Would a raer axle out of a montero/raider be a vaible rear for a centered xfer case application?
Being that it is already pretty short.
If not why strength,part availabilty?

i dont know about that particular rear end much.. But id bet it has limited Gear options, Locker options, and parts are hard to come by..

Put in a Mini truck Rear Axle and be done with it!

wish i could help ya.but i do know from personal ex.that d50 rears are strong and can handle up to a chevy 350 without any trouble.

The mitsu's have strong drivetrains. I wheeled the snot out of my Might Max PU, never had a hint of mechanical trouble. But aftermarket parts availability was non-existent. No gears, lockers, lift kits, etc.

If you want a japanese centered rear axle, use one from a minitruck or T100. There are plenty of gears and brake options for them.

i was wheeling up in elkins west virginia once and broke my frame in half in 3 places:crybaby: man was i pissed

I bring this up because I may have a line on a rear with the LSD locker already in it. and also the lug patern is the same.
The only thing that wold need done internally is a gear change.
Just seeing if this is a feasable option.

Mini truck rears , or anything , in this area are as rare as hens teeth.

Aha! I didn't know there was any part of the globe where the Toy Mini was not ubiquitous.
I learnt something today.

you can place a ARB locker for this rear axle .. and factory ones if it come from a Montero .. but here in Panamá most of those rear axles come with 4.88 and those axle shaft are lest resistance than one Toy axle ..

my .002 cents !
