My new to me 100 series arrived yesterday. I bought it in CA and had it shipped to WA. Amazing turn around time, it was on my doorstep 24 hours after they picked it up.

So my question...I recall hearing about tires on AWD card that if you got a flat and had to replace all four. I noticed on the cruiser that there is one oddball tire. They all look to be in great shape, but I am wondering if I should replace that one or get a whole new set?

If I just get one, the OD of that tire will probably be larger than the OD on the other tires due to minor wear.

So what is the story on the 100 series tcase. Can it handle this sort of delta on tire size?

I can't recall the measurement, but if the other 3 tires are worn outside of x/32nds of the new tire, it's recommended to replace all of them. If they're all within the same amount of wear, just run them. Only reason to replace would be to change size or cosmetics.

Tires sizes vary from manufactures so you should compare the inflated sizes (check the manufactures website). Personally, I would not run mismatched tires on the same axel, it can lead to unpredictable handling, especially in emergency situations.

I took a screw in the sidewall of one of my halfway used stock Michelin LTX's some time ago and had to run the never before used spare for about 20,000 miles. It handled fine with it on there and I haven't noticed any issues resulting from using it. Great excuse to upgrade to the BFG's though.

My understanding, at least from use on 4wd tractors, is that if tires rotate at different rates, due to different circumfrences, that it can stress the gears, diffs and such.

I just picked up a 98 LX470 about 600 miles from home last Tuesday. Three different brands of tires and one was a different size and had no tread on it. Eventhough I was in a hurry to get home, I called a few towns down the path and found some BFG AT/KOs, 285/75R16s put on, MAN they look great.

I also got the same spare and plan to rotate it through regularly, so if I lose one I will still have 4 matching tires.

My two cents...
