Cleaning out the garage and found a power steering setup for a 55. Included is a mini truck/4Runner solid axle PS box and the welded mounting bracket for it. With this bracket there is no welding or cutting necessary to install PS on your 55. The bracket replaces the original mounting bracket, the box bolts to it in such a position that the steering column connects to it like it was made for it. Input spline on the mini box is the same as the original box. You use the original pitman arm from your 55 on ther mini truck box (same spline there, too). I ran a similar setup on my truck for years before we sprung her over and went to a 60 box. Mini truck boxes are getting very hard to find. Price $400 for the box and bracket. Buyer pays shipping from PA. Best to email me shmukter@pa.metrocast.net. Thanks, Gary S

Unless you're going huge with tires and wheels, this is an easy and effective route to PS. Did this on my pig and have run up to 33x1050x15s with no issues. Appropriate PS pump for your engine choice, a belt and you're good to go. Might be the best mod I've done to my 55. GLWS, Gary.

A 60 pump and bracket won't bolt on to an older 2F. I believe the 2f started to come with the tapped holes for the PS pump bracket during the 79 model year when PS became an option. Of course i could be wrong, been there before..

That is about the size of it. I think some late '78 2F blocks started showing the mounting provisions for PS pump.

This is correct

Gary, do you know what year mini truck/4Runner that box came off of. I didn't have the funds to buy this right now, but you research can help me buy the correct one in the future. Thanks for any info you can provide.
