Do the stock steering columns for '78 and '79 FJ40's need to be shortened (and by how much) when installing a mini-truck powersteering setup?

Thanks:beer:

What years does this apply to? I'm trying to wrap up the conversion on my '76 and I wasn't aware that any changes to the steering column were necessary (and Lord knows I've tried to read all the previos threads and posts on the subject her on MUD). In the verbiage from the JTO website about installing their "kit" it only says that a pre '73 column needs a rag joint, but nothing else.

It applies to all years that had the rag joint with a manual box; something like '73 up. I moved the box forward on the pedestel and shortened the relay rod a corresponding amount, which is another option.
