I am a super lurker but...

Here is the list... (DD less than 5-10 miles a day.)
SBC
465
3spd
CV drivelines
4.10 (open)
40 housings (mini-truck knuckles)
longs front
stock rears
SOA (40 front, 55 rear)
Scout PS
4x4labs
4WDB
14" bils on 4 corners
96"-97" wheelbase

My questions:

Tires, I'd like to stay at 37's but I am open to comments. What is a prefered rim size? Does 17" rims make that much difference in performance on or off road in 37s? Or in bigger tires? Does it make sense to stay at 15" as a common denominator?

Who is running Irok radials larger than 37s? Do they wear and ride well? If I stay at 37s, I think I am going to go Wrangler MTR. Larger I'll go with Iroks. Is larger than 37s going to tear it up?

Anyone have other thoughts?

Poser, you are usually full of s***... I mean insight. What meats are you running? How big is too big?

thanks in advance,

awp

BF Goodrich

I would run the Krawler T/A. Folks around here love them. 39.5 is as big as you can get. It only comes in a 17" rim.

I've heard stories of folks switching from 44" tires to the 39.5" Krawler and loving them.

your list looks good!, Only think i would change is atleast a pair of aussie lockers. No sence in puttin in longfields without locking it up!

For Mild Core guys like Me and you MTR's are a Great option, I just picked up a set of 35's on 15" wheels for my Street/Some Trail Set..

Once im out of School! (2 weeks and Counting) i should have a real job, and will look into some decent Bias Ply 37's PBR's or Swampers. most likley a 17" beadlock wheel..

37" MTR's, the BFG's will wear like crap..

i'm getting 37" MTRs and heard alot of good things about them...

I assume with that wheel base your flipping the springs front/rear

an aussie in the rear is a must for the setup you have it will just top everything off...

38.5 TSL S/X's

I bought a worn set for $400 and grooved them, I DD on them spring/summer/fall.

I have climbed some stuff that my buddies with 37" Iroks and MT/R's have had to pull cable on. (schoolbus, lower 2)

Isotel, lockers will come. I spent too much on the SOA and other goodies. My next project will be a cage. Safety comes... second or third after all.

Mace, That is the direction I am leaning. I didn't have a problem with the BFGs I ran, but I do see those on other rigs with every other lug worn off.

JR, Krawlers are too much $$. I just can't justify it. My new years resolution (for whatever that is worth) is to keep it under $300 a tire (mounted).

Bandy, I forgot to mention the SR. Yes, my front springs are flipped. I am pretty much sure I am going to hang on till I can swing ARBs and gears at the same time. Untill then, I'll have to do with a skinny pedal and some good friends with winches.

Cruisin, I live in Seattle. Most guys out here aren't over 37s. I wish I could find a sweet used set for $400. Lucky dog.

Thanks for the comments,

awp
