has anyone ever seen this? the truck ran great after revamping the exhaust/intake manifold. after i retorqued the manifold bolts and put the carb back on i drove it for a few hour or so then then it would stall whenever i stopped at a light etc. when i got home i tried to pull the vac line off the distributor cap and the whole cap came with it...the plastic was so soft it streatched with the vac line like string cheese. i was thinking somehow i intordices a fuel mixture into the distributor. what do the tho "air" line to the distributor do, one small has vaccume on it while running, the other goes through the firewall to somewehere else. any ideas?

Gases linger inside the dizzy that require venting. The large hose going into the cap is from a filter inside the cab, the small hose is a vacuum source, which is connected to a VCV valve. The problem is, if the dizzy is not vented properly the gases built up inside will ignite. Some people have found that a bad VSV will cause this problem.

Damn superjuice... you engine must be emitting some mighty powerful hydrocarbons to cause that kinda damage.....

Just some thoughts:

You might have gotten a junk cap made of low melting temperature plastic. Maybe replace with cap of known quality?

Might also check your rotor to make sure you're not making the spark jump across too larga a gap. That might contribute to high temps as well.
