Running another cooler for the radiator is an option for sure. I was gonna try to climb under the 40 this weekend and look at where to mount the remote trans cooler and investigate that option for the cooling as well.

It's gonna be a busy winter in the shop!! Parts keep showing up.... Got the radiator today, It is huge! Shouldn't be any problem cooling on grades after this install.
The core on the 40 radiator was 332 sq in
The core on this one is 463 sq in.
I have to do some trimming on the mounts on the sides of it so it will drop down between the frame rails a couple inches(which my fan does now anyway), and I plan to weld pins to the bottom so in sits in those for bottom mounts.
I think it should keep the 2.8L cool in the hottest temps.
Here is the radiator I bought.

We went and picked up a tree yesterday. I was pretty stoked the salt isn't on the roads yet, so we could take the 40!!

My 4 year old took this pic as I was pulling up to the tree the bride picked out.

😡

They salted down here with the inch of snow last weekend. Fricking annoying.

I am glad we missed out on that inch and the salt....

Pulled the trigger on a custom bumper! Got a sneak peak today!! Looking awesome! @TRAIL TAILOR

@cstav86 Yes sir, I had him put returns on it. Not only for protection, but, I like the way it fills the gap from the side view.

I was torn whether to put a return on the ends and decided against it. The thought being a stick gets in there. It's easier to clear if left open.

But. If closed off, should be less likely.

Are you putting extra reverse lights in?

If so, put them on a three position switch.

ON-OFF-AUTO ON

Yes sir, he is. And thank you! That is a great idea!!

I saw a guy at SAS 8 put his 40 in the side of the trail going up Poughkeepsie and his Kaymar bumper with the returns saved him some serious body work. Been interested in a product like that since I saw it happen. That looks like a killer American made option.

I pulled power from the reverse switch on the tranny. I still have to wire and mount it, but the plan is to run everything off a relay block for any extra external lighting. So that power from the transmission will go through the switch still, but then to a relay as a trigger. That way I'm not really putting any more load on old Toyota wiring.

@sogncab the middle holes will be the backup lights. And the upper receiver on the right side will be a removeable mount for my ground tent to sit on!! Pretty stoked to see this come to life! Looks awesome!! @TRAIL TAILOR
