Medford to Boise.. Really, how and how long? +

So, I have been as far as Christmas Valley and if I go to a wedding to Boise this weekend I would go that way- its probably icy but what are the roads like past there if you know? It looks like it is about a 10+ hour trip.. Any input? I'm thinking about not going.. Yuck. Who plans a wedding in Idaho Jan. 2? My nephew...

Google puts that around 800 miles vs. 500+, I'd be driving the 80 which does 65/70 comfortably but not on corners or hills.. I'm thinking 8-10 hrs of road time twice in 3 days is too much for my grumpy back. I would love to go and poke around Easter Oregon for a few days in warmer weather maybe they could postpone this until May...
