Hello and thanks for looking! I am embarking on a engine/trans switch in 66 fj40. Current engine is a sbc tied to nv4500. new engine is "07" 5.3 vortec w/4l60e. Looking for "seasonded" installer for new engine/trans project. can deliver or have location ( huntington beach) to work on project. Old motor & trans will be removed and engine compartment cleaned. fj has current painless wire har,- New motor has orig wire har, ecm, fuse box all plugs not butchard, with trans still conected came out of silverado k1500 4x4 with 10k on engine/trans--- pay is in cash , want project to be completed within 2 mo's  thanks for any and all your help

Keep the NV4500 in there. Or, trade labor for it. Or sell it to get your adapter, etc.

I had Art (Wasabi on mud site) do mine. He's a full-time landcruiser mechanic and has done over 20 of these.

He has xlnt references...

2 months might be a push depending on workload..........

Thanks for the quick response, very much appercaited. I've left a mess w/art and am looking forward to talking to him. Also current motor and trans are going to get pulled and cleaned up to sell, I have compresion #'s and there good, reson for change out is I hunt and I use it 70%for this. going slow in deep sand etc... one day 8000ft mountains 2 days later desert fuel injection seems to work better, and driving so slow shifting becomes pain in the !!!. Once agian just want to say thanks, and you all give a bonehead wanta be :wrench:er HOPE!

proffitt's

I am having the same install done on my 77 fj40 next month at Proffitt's cruisers in Colorado. They are charging me 2500.00 for the install. They have a great reputation and reasonable prices.

We have an ex-employee who does Chevota conversions in the La Mirada area. Can't answer about his prices?? His name is Brian, his phone number is (562)941-0306.
