I have 25" from upper to lower shock mount surface(front). I plan to go to an eye to eye shock. what length extended and collapsed should I be looking for?

Is it as simple as this..

With 25" mount to mount, with a 12' travel shock. I'd have 7' up/ 5" down travel
24" - 6"/6"
23" - 5"/7"
22" - 4"/8"

If you're measuring that when just sitting on the road, that doesn't tell you your compressed number, which means you don't know how long of a shock you can fit.

Flex the axle, and measure the length of the compressed side. Go from there.

Maybe a dumb question: Why do people put shocks of different travels to the front ans rear of the truck?
Someone please school me on this....

front cant travel as much do to the arms rear travels more so u can run a longer shock on rear then front

Also more room to fit longer shocks on the rear than the front.
