Because of the 100's of positive responses and PM's I received from my 1st mE mAkEm FiRe thread I decided to do another. In case you missed it, link HERE

This time I will be using Magnesium & Ferrocerium to start the fire. Magnesium & Ferrocerium is a non-primitive fire starter you can buy in any outdoor store. To get started you scape filing from the Magnesium into a pile. Then you scape the Ferrocerium strip to get spark to ignite the Magnesium. In theory and a controlled environment normally its easy.

This time I created my own tinder bundle and did a beautiful job IMO from native plant sources read:green:flipoff2: Now the problems started I found it very difficult the form a pile of Magnesium in the heart of my tinder bundle(every time I touched the bundle all the mag fell to the bottom) and did I mention wind:mad:

After several failed attempts to start the Magnesium I believe I ended up starting my tinder with just a spark which is much more challenging. Bottom line I was able to get a coal started and with a little blowing I got ignition!

In part 3 we move to chemical fire starting:popcorn:

So I got this knife awhile ago, I got it cause it has the nifty little fire starter on it. I haven't used it yet, but your threads are giving me some motivation.

Do it on the table, inside, on tissue and it will work every time with no problems.

O'Oooo electric fire maybe part 4

On a side note -If you drive an automobile long enough with a bad head gasket it will start on fire without any help.

will a spark plug light a soda can full of gas???????okay half full ?? if you do this we need vidio:eek:

If you had one of them nifty Coleman stoves, you wouldn't need to make fire.

YoU tAlK eM lIkE mY nAmE TrAiLbUs1!!! Iz I wEtArDed?

NIce so do you feel the bow method is easier than?

For me with a good set up the bow is much faster (under 2 min) then any other primitive method I have tried. Most primitive fire starting methods are based on creating an ember and a friction bow is the easiest so far.

Understanding the friction bow is the secret. Like I said before I tried many times for many years before I mAkEm FiRe WiTh A bOw. It wasn't until I contacted a self-proclaimed expert from Kentucky:hillbilly: that help me understand the process.
