We have yet another addition to our cruiser fleet, and this one runs and drives!

It’s a 96 with less than 190k. The body is ok, the frame is great and nothing too unreasonable to work on.

I already swapped out the wheels and tires after the bath.

While I start working on the new and old 80s, I’m also making slow progress with my wider-centered 40 rear. I picked up another rear housing with a different plan.

I cut the tubes off an 83mini truck housing and learned that they won’t slide into the 40 tubes as the interwebs suggested.

So I cut the tubes off the 83 bearing ends, added some steel weld to build up the ends for turning and pressing into the 40 axle bearing bores.

Once that is done I will cut and center the new housing to width and add some gusseting.

That's odd. When I centered mine, the mini tubes slid right in. There weren't really that snug.

I finally found a lathe to use today.

Finally found a body shop guy to weld in the roof patch. A mechanic friend lent a truck and trailer for the local haul. Bruiser progress once again!

The bucket seat is not permanent…

I finally got up to the north side of Muskegon to pick up a set of Rodeo steelies for using to make some 17x8” 6-spoke wheels for Cara’s 80.

I’ll get the worn tires removed, cut the rim hoops off the centers and rough them down somewhat close to go into the Chevy hoops.
