In my constant search for the perfect 35's, I have now come upon the Maxxis Radial Trepador. The thing is that I can't find any prices and little reviews. The reviews are not very detailed. Anyone have any feedback on this tire? I really like the looks and tread pattern. It looks as though it would be ok on the street and good on rock, in snow, and maybe mud. They have a bias version that looks sick, but of course I don't want anything bias until this is a dedicated trail rig. Even then I will still want to road trip in it.

So far the other tires that keep my attention are the TOYO MT and the Trxus MT. I am going to be moving back to Atlanta in the future and know that I will need something that can handle some mud (even though IH8MUD:D)

I was looking at these tires and thought they looked pretty sweet. I found a few reviews but not much.

The bias are really sweet and have HUGE tread, but i was wanting to run the radials until I put my MT/R's on.

I say go for it!

Been helping a friend look for tires for his Taco lately. Check out the Cooper STT, and Pro-Comp Extreme Mud Terrain - both very simular patern to the Toyo, and might get a better price.

I've had no problems with my MT MTZ's

I've had the STT and though I liked them, they wore really fast. I looked at the Pro-Comp Extreme AT and MT, but they were more than the Toyo. You can get reasonable proces on the Toyos from http://www.tiredeals4less.com/TOYO_Open_Country_MT_LT315_75R_P1805.cfm They have the Toyos for 209+shipping, which should run 20-30 a tire. My local discount tire matched the price for the 285 when they were $183+20 shipping so I got them local with warrenties. I think out of all of the tires that you mentioned the toyos are my favorite.

I referred Lavarock64 to these guys for his Toyos and I think that he has been happy with their service.

New pro comp's look nice. I just have a hard time supporting 4WP from the way they have treated me and others in the past. The coopers are nice too. Just seems like the wear on them is super fast on our heavy trucks (The Toyos just seem better manufactured)

How are your MTZs in mud? I really like that tire too. I know you have liked it on rocks and in snow.

Too many damn choices.....which is nice.

Trepadors I have seen down here in the SE on the trail...they do well :)

Well Dan, I will be coming to wheel with you! I know you wouldn't steer me wrong since you don't want to have to stop and strap me ;p.

I see a lot of them in competitions as well.

I don't have any idea how they do on the road.

MTZ's work real well in mud. We have real sticky clay mud here. Only stucks I've had in mud are not cause of the tires, but because of drag'n the axle on rutts. I have a little more than a year on them, and 17,000 miles, and they've worn really well. A little chunking, but just corners of tread, not like half a lug coming off or anything. I see them going 30,000 no problem, and probably 40,000 before they NEED to be replaced, I just figure around 30,000 on a mud tire and it stops being a mud tire any more cause the lugs aren't big enough. We'll see.

I told my friend that he wouldn't go wrong with any of the choices he was looking at. He ended up going 255/85R16 with Truxus MT's. Choices in that size are somewhat limited, but they fit on a 7" rim. I was pushing the Maxxis Bighorns for him cause they have some siping unlike the BFG MT's, and were cheap and available. Sam's off-road, our local 4by shop was jerk'n him around on the Truxus cause of the size, they wanted to charge him shipping, even though they are a distributor and have a truck coming for Louisiana every two weeks. Whole point of buying local and paying the 9% sales tax is not having to pay shipping. He found a place in Texas that gave him a good price and good price on shipping.

I think the Trepadors are way cool. The design is cool. And there is something to be said for running a tire no-one else is. My MTZ's are pretty unique around here, and I don't remember seeing another 80 on them. Wish of course they were a little taller. I think the Toyo's are taller. But I got a killer deal on mine when I bought them, my brother is still convinced it was a misprint on the price, I haven't seen them near that since.

If price is relatively the same, I'd go Trepadors just to try something no one else has, and it's not like Maxxis builds crap. Next choice would be the Toyo MT's. My brother has them and loves them, and they're a tall 315. Then MTZ's. then ProComp Extreme mud. ...... Though that new Dick Creepe Bruiser with the skulls on the side tread is kinda cool too.....

Certainly a different world than it was 5 years ago. SOOOOO many good MT choices that you can run daily on a truck without going nuts on the hwy.

Those are directional, designed more for trails rather than daily driving. Looks more like a rock tire (MT/R) rather than something great in the mud.

I ran the Procomps X’s which are also directional, with the heavy 80 they slipped Lateral more than I would like and the Maxxis BigHorns I run now are more stable.

Running the SS Trxus MT on my other truck, better in the Mud than the Big Horns and a slight bit quieter on the highway but they cost about $200 more also. In the rocks there about equal but the Trxus seem to be wearing a bit quicker but I happy with both of them. I would think either of these are a better deal overall unless I was hitting the rocks more or not using the 80 for a DD.

The Toyo MT's are nice but for the price difference (~ 900+ for 35's) compared to the Maxxis Bighorns (~ 600) I did'nt feel they are worth it and from what I've seen there not that great in the mud.
