Maximum tyre size before considering diff ratios changing?

larger tires weigh more, thus more mass/weight to slow down. If other variables remain fixed then yes...a larger tire is certainly going to impact brake performance is some manner. Weight to me, would be the primary impact to braking but thats just my view.
 
Extended radius of a larger tire means the vehicle has greater leverage over the brakes. Like using a bigger breaker bar. Weight is a factor but not nearly as crucial. Upgrade your brakes.
