Damn, I thought I had fixed that. It is a common problem with the split case, I upgraded to the marlin crawler springs and detent balls and thought that was fixed. The 2wd-4wd linkage is the one facing forward that pulls out for 4wd and pushes in for 2wd. The shaft has notches grooved into it and the spring and ball hold it in place. There is supposedly a mod where you can stack washers behind the spring to increase the tension, but I thought that was just for worn out stock springs. I couldn't see anywhere that that linkage would hit the body. on the 60's a lot of people say worn motor mounts are the cause, but I still couldn't see how it would flex that much to physically knock it out.

One or two 6 mm diameter washers should fix this. Pull the plug and stick 'em behind the spring. Had to do this on my '86. Easy fix. I picked the washers at an Ace Hardware.

Last night, my Jeep got stuck and the Cruiser had to pull me out.

Do you live in the shed next to the Cruisers so that you can afford the Cruisers :hillbilly:?

Perhaps...one has to prioritize... :)

I will try the washer trick...makes sense after reading how the lever works...it really felt like something was popping it and knocking it out...spring tension makes sense

I'm thinkin instead of dropping that skid for access we can pop that shift console off.

I can't believe you're having trouble with this s***-box. Lemme take it off your hands so you won't have to worry with it no more.
