This probably doesn't qualify as hardcore but I'm going to ask it here anyway as I couldn't find anything in the 60s area on anyone actually doing this...

I took a stab at fitting my Mark VIII fan to my FJ62 rad this weekend. The problem that I ran into is that the mk VIII doesn't fit between the rad inlet hose and the rad cap spiget (22" wide at the top). I can't drop it down lower because of the trans cooler inlet and outlet fittings.

I'm thinking that I'm going to chop the top corner off so that the uncut side aligns with the cap spiget and the cut allows the other side to slide under the inlet hose. The inlet hose side would then align with that edge of the rad and the spiget side would leave ~4" of the rad uncovered. I'll then make a sheetmetal piece to cover and reinforce the chopped corner. I'll also extend the sheetmetal piece to cover the top couple of inches of the fan that sticks up above the rad so that all air is drawn through the rad.

Thoughts? Is there a better way to get this fan to fit?

Thanks for the tip. Looks like the twin fan set up came off the v-6. Got any specs on it? I've been searching the web all morning but I can't find any dimensions, a cfm rating or amp draw.

Its what I run on my 502 so it has mucho cfm. Amp draw is really high at startup, some where around 60 amps, but after it starts closer to 35. Fits the core perfect. My truck is stored in a warehouse in Dallas or I get you the part number.

If it cools your 502 it shouldn't have any trouble with my 3FE :) Part number shouldn't be a problem, it looks like the 95-00 v6s got the twin fans and the 4s got the singles. Thanks again for the tip!
