Material on the underside of top (5 Viewers)

This is a (poor] pic of the underside of my top. These cuts were made by PO. There is no headliner, obviously. What is this material? Is it integral to the top's structural strength? thanks

Some aftermarket material. Only effect as a sound and temp treatment. Could /should (to some) be replaced by a headliner kit.
 
Looks like a form of fiber board. Sort of like cork board in uses such a pinning up stuff. I think it comes in 2'x2' squares maybe other sizes and thickness too.
 
I don't think its factory, maybe for your year/market. My 76 had a sort of foam with a skin that had holes - sort of like pegboard pattern. Was say 3/16 thick and glued in place. There is correct replacement head liner material
