I priced Rubicon's in Houston back in the summer of '04 (before I bought my 80) and they were pretty much sticking to MSRP.
Match up between an 06 X-Terra and 06 FJ Cruiser?

Since I owned an 03 supercharged Xterra and have many Toyota's including my FJ40 I am not biased between these brands.
I have driven the new Xterra and compared it with the FJcruiser and for my money I would get the Nissan hands down.
I will not buy another vehicle that requires premium fuel and the Nissan has a sweet motor that runs on regular.

From what I have read you can use regular unleaded. You just don't get the horsepower and torque numbers that Totota has been advertising.
My FJ should be here next week and I plan on using regular unleaded.
My wife never would have agreed to this if it required premium.

In the owners Manual it does require preminum and has some stiff warning on the use of lesser octane.
So saskdiesel the supercharged engine in the Xterra does not require preminum? I find that a interesting statement.
Toyota's line of engines using the same technology will all require preminum. This may change as more people complain, but I do not think this will happen. It is a balance between ecomany, power, and performance. If you check the 80 or 100 series threads on preminum vs regular, you may see what the cost is per year difference truly is. What I remember is that it is only a couple of hundred dollars difference on 15k miles a year.
I have had the good fortune to drive one of these FJ for the last couple of weeks, wheeling it and driving it with and with out a trailer. Here in the mountains of colorado we have towed trailers with about 2700 lbs up the mountain pass at 60mph (at speed limit), fuel ecomany so far has been around 14+ mpg(us gallon). On highway cruise control at 75+mph we get close to 18 mpg(with out a trailer). All this is with engine just over 1000 miles(break in for towing first). I do hope this provides some info that is lacking at this time. I will have more info to pass on, as time goes on. These little trucks wheel great just as they are. A lift will allow them to go even more places.

You have the wrong info. The older model supercharged Xterre required premium fuel. The new model makes more power and gets better economy without a supercharger. There is no blower on the new Xterra so it runs on regular fuel.

I wrote a confusing post. I was refering to the FJ needing high octane fuel.
So then Sskdiesel, I refered to your post about you not getting a engine that needed fuel and made a statment about the Supercharger not needing high octane fuel. That is what I found interesting. So what info do I have wrong?

The post i read did not have the info you just posted and I drew a inference from your post about the fuel.

All SC Xterra's need premium. That's why mine has been traded.
All normally aspirated models (including the new one) don't.

I wasn't very happy either when I saw the 'high octane' rating, but when I figured out how much more per month it would be then reg, no problem. It was only about 13 bucks a month. Not even close to make me buy an Xterra. I haven't been brand friendly either, I have had 5 Nissan trucks. Gas mileage was terrible in them,...probably close enough to make up the difference in 20 cents more per gal.
