Master cylinder cap / gasket

Trying to get rid of the brake light after installing the fj80 master cylinder... so I got a top off a 4 runner master cylinder that had teh sensor.. It fits, but not snugly. I feel like it's not air tight. Will the cause a problem? I know brake fluid shouldn't be exposed to air too long?

Also has anyone tried using the sensor that connects into the side plug of the master cylinder? Would it be compatible with the fj62's electronics?

Lastly after all this crap and running around and returning the old master cylinder.. I got a brand new fj80 one from marlin crawler. I used the old gasket however and it's leaking from the bottom of the master somewhere. Maybe the nut on the bottom? or maybe where the master and brake booster meet where the gasket is at? Is the gasket necessary? seems like there is no fluid transfer b/w the booster and master is there?

Sorry for all the repetitive questions.. but i'm utterly frustrated. What is supposed to be a simple upgrade is driving me nuts.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air so the cap should be snug.

You would be better off splicing the wiring into a new cap that fits. If you want to connect it to the reservoir leads, you should be ok, though using a male receptacle is cleaner fit.

As far as the leaking, the reservoir may be loose. Inside the reservoir, there's a nut that holds it onto the cylinder. Then check your hard line fittings.

There's no fluid transer between the booster and the cylinder.
If this is the gasket you're talking about, reusing it is ok.

Hm. since you're mixing and matching, that cylinder may not accept a cap with a sensor. In that case, you won't have a choice but to use the res. leads.

you've been so helpful so far. seems like your just waiting there till i post a question and then bam you answer. I'll check the screw inside, and switch the cap for the resevoir lead. Thanks again!
