Hi guys. I completed an 8 hr road trip from CT to ME on Mon and come to find my brake line leaking, with the brake fluid reservoir nearly a quarter tank.

A local mechanic replaced 30’ of brake line only to find the brake pedal still spongy and advised the master brake cylinder needed to be replaced.

I can understand that being a New England FZJ80...it’s crusty like wheat toast undercarriage.
But hole the fluid looks fresh, there’s still dust on what I believe is the master brake cylinder, which makes me skeptical this was even replaced.

Am I off on this?

The black pancake looking thing against the fire wall is the brake booster, its hasn't been touched, by appearance.
The part with the brake fluid reservoir is the master cylinder. That appears to be new.
