I have a 79FJ40 but I think I still have the smaller knuckle studs. I'm not too worried about the smaller studs but my question is this....

I called Marlin Crawler about thier kit because I also want the heavy duty seals. They told me that their kit includes everything needed for both the larger and smaller knuckle studs.

Can somebody verify this before I order and am jacked when it's not what I need?

Thanks!

Don't know much about that kit, however i do know that Marlin Crawler stuff is top of the line ... I live right down the road and have been at the shop several times... If they said it was the stuff then i am sure it is. They have never done me wrong with ANYTHING ..

Highly recommend Marlin .... ;)

Their kit works for all knuckles. In any case I doubt you would be jacked they are pretty good about stuff like that.

the only thing different in the kit is the actual knuckle shims, and I know I have dozens of early ones just sitting in the plastic packaging since every kit I have ever gotten has had both the large and small pattern shims.

If they dont come with the kit, PM me and I will send you out a set of small pattern shims.

 Thanks tons for the replies. I know Marlin always stands behind their stuff, I just wanted to make sure I was going to get the right thing. I didn't want to get "jacked" on time. Thanks again!

I really like that their kit has shims for both size knuckle studs. That makes it really easy. It's kind of a bummer to have a 79 but still have the smaller studs. Oh-well, time to upgrade someday.

I just installed (today) one of Marlins newest kits on my 1977 Fj40. I also installed his HD seals. :D

They do not come with the the small pattern shims anymore. Just the large ones for FJ60 stuff.

I'm glad I had spare parts from his old kits that I have installed to use today.

If you haven't bought the kit already I would reccomend Orange45. I bought a kit from him with koyo bearings and the marlin hd seals. Very impressed with him customer service and speed in shipping.

thanks guys.

the knuckle kits only come with the larger pattern knuckle shims now. if you need early shims, i can definetly put the proper shims in a kit for you. i try to stock pretty much everything required to rebuild the knuckles.

thanks again!
