For Sale Market Value Question 75 FJ40

Just had second child and looking to get something a little more family friendly for my weekend car and I'm going to put the FJ up for sale. I would appreciate some help in ascertaining a price if you don't mind. 1975 FJ40 with professional frame off restoration two years ago (I have all receipts and pictures) and FJ has only been driven around 2,000 miles since then. FJ is a garage genie and never taken off road or driven in the rain. I know many here will find this a travesty, but I don't have the heart to see this fine machine get scratched.

During restoration the interior was replaced, rhino line on inside, new aluminum tub, stainless hardware, wheels powder coated, new shocks, power steering installed, etc.. There are a gazillion coats of wax on the FJ and the paint is pristine.

Any idea on price I should ask? Thanks!

My suggestion is ebay or BaT. quickest sell and best money

Couple things. It's not an FJ. It a FJ40, 40, or Land Cruiser.
I grew up in a Land Cruiser, my dad had um. It played a major part in my life and what I do for a living to this day.
So I would argue its the most family friendly, but hey, to each their own.

I agree with the BAT or EBAY post. You got a really nice e 40 there, should pull mid to high 20s pretty easy.

Nice....GLWS

Nice looking rig. Got my FJ40 a few months ago. Had I known you were going to sell yours it would have saved me transport fee from NY. I'm just up the road from you.
Thanks and they are a blast to drive and I’m sure I’ll regret selling. I just don’t feel comfortable putting car seats in the jump seats. I’ll get another one once kidos get older.

Any undercarriage pics? Was the motor/running gear pulled and refreshed? Looks like the firewall wasn't painted?

My friend has an FJ40 that he put front facing seats with belts in the rear tub in place of the fold down seats. Perfect for kiddos. Something to consider. You will regret selling it. If you have room in the garage keep it and get a used FJ62 for the kids on weekends. My wife bought one new, we still have, and it saved her life and our two little kids when she was in the middle of a five vehicle accident caused by a drunk who ran into her when she was stopped at a light.

I’ve considered this and my fear is to get into an accident with the kidos in my FJ40, even with forward facing seats. I end up driving my Silverado all the time for this very reason and only drive the FJ40 to the office or to run an errand when I’m kidless.

Nice FJ40.....I'm sure you hate to see it being sold, but life dictates the future. Being a frame off restoration, why didn't they paint the body parts while they were off the frame? Seems like it would have been much-much easier that way?

The truck appears to be a non-USA Land Cruiser. Do you know? The tub replacement (which looks well done) was likely due to excessive rust so buyers will wonder what the front clip and frame looked like? Any pre-resto photos? Some non-standard color choices under the hood, some bonus holes here and there. Missing the rear reflectors, dash pad, non-USA wheels so no hubcaps. Having PS as it does, I would guess it's going to bring high 20's, low 30's depending on the details. Hope this helps. GLWS

Thank you and no idea if it is a USA or non-USA land cruiser and I would assume it is a USA one. I do have pre-resto frame off photos. Thanks for the comments.

It may very well be a USA truck but the wheels with no clips for the hubcaps and the absence of the dash pad made me wonder. Could be the dashpad was just removed and the wheels added. The VIN plate on the inside passenger fender (assuming it's there) should may shed some light on this. It does have a heater and a roll bar and the engine look right for USA.

If it says FJ40LV-KCJA - Is a North American Model

Were side window defrosters even available in 75? Nice rig and agree with others on Ebay or BAT for a sale.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the comments and feedback. I’ll prob try to sell it local first then BaT. Thanks again!
