Well, the better part of 2 days & it's done; not constantly working on it - had to take 'cool off' breaks : too hot ( & humid).

I probably made it hard on my self:
-did not split intake from exhaust manifolds
-did not disconnect from exhaust system

Amazing how loose the factory bolts & one of the stud nuts were....

Rear p/s pump bolt weas inn the way - couldn't put it back in...so it will be replaced at p/s pump replacement.

HINT : line up / start threads on the rear most pita bolt

Learned:
- exhaust pipe not 'welded' to flange that bolts to mailfold, it's press-fit
- those plastic valves on t-stat housing are more delicate than skin.
- any job ( this gasket, p/s pump R&R,see other thread) extolls a minumum about of sacrifical skin, blood & explative proffered to the cruiser gods . . .
- if ya cut your pointer finger enough times , deep enough, and continue twisting bolts with it, it get numb . . .typing is intersting...
- Not something I'd like to do for a living :-)

Runs much better,,,much, much quiter & I can breath at stop-lights ( used to fill the rig w/ ex fumes)

Later,

Pete

Sounds like you had a good weekend. Glad to hear it all worked out for you in the end.

Bummer.. there was some good surf ya missed this weekend brotha...

glad it worked out for ya, how did ya find the leak? sea foam?

Didn't need seafoam !

Used short lenght of garden hose a stethascope...

Could actually see to blown-aside piece of gasket over the cyl 2-3 area.

I think it was the result of the loose bolts & nuts !
