Welcome! How do you like that big ass tent? I've just got a little 2-person I haven't started to use yet...

Freaking love it!! There are some modifications I have made though. Replaced the velcro strap ends with NRS 1.5 in cam straps, which is SOOO much better than the double D rings. With 4 kiddos, we all fit perfectly and the sleeping bags just stay up there ready for the next trip. It has saved me so much space and time. I miss having roof storage as I used to have a 4'x8' custom flat rack, but all in all it is worth it.

Hey there. I’m in Colorado Springs and trying to find out more info on this club. Are there meetings? If so is there a schedule somewhere? I have a fzj80 and fj40 and currently looking for another Fj60. Looking to do some trails with other cruisers. I saw the trail schedule and will most likely try to join a run.

We had meetings, pre-COVID. I imagine that will get back to standard once people are comfortable holding them again. Right now we're still doing the monthly club runs with decent turn out... I guess everyone's itching to get outside.

The next run is the gulches, so you should see me there if you join us. Usually the week before the run, we'll post meet-up details.

Good afternoon, everyone! We're a Land Cruiser family. My wife dailies an LX470, but the reason for me joining is because I picked up a 1996 Land Cruiser. It's pretty high mileage at 377,000 but I figured, why not. I bought it from a lady in El Paso that really just used it on her ranch for the past 2 years. I stopped by Discount Tire, picked up a matching set of 33s to replace the mismatched 8 year old tires that were on it, and drove back to the Springs. The trip was relatively uneventful, except for the A/C clutch and bolt falling off of the pulley because of an unexpected off-road trip outside of Santa Fe.

I plan to offroad it; I have experience thanks to some friends with more serious rigs, that I have gotten the chance to wheel in places like Moab and Zion. It WAS just a weekend toy, but I figured that I would make it more of a daily driver, and give up the commuter. Thanks to the coronavirus, I don't really commute, I just have to drive to the office once every few weeks. So, off to the baselining. I plan to do the pesky heater hose, rebuild the knuckles, and fix the leaky power steering. It got to the point where not driving it for 3 weeks, I got in the truck and the power steering wasn't even working! I've heard bad experiences from aftermarket power steering pumps, so I plan to buy a rebuild kit for the one that's in it. Trail repairs are some of my least favorite things, so I want to baseline everything that I can while it's in my garage!

Also, because of daily driver duty, I'm going to replace the 1990's Eclipse radio with a newer unit that has Bluetooth. The power seats don't slide, I can't decide whether to fix them, or replace with some aftermarket seats on a manual slider. I'm not going to go crazy with modifications yet.

What’s up guys. Name is Jesse, live in the springs. Glad to know y’all are out there. Will definitely need to join a trail run. Have had my 100 series for a little over three years and love it. Had an 85 pickup and 88 4Runner before. Hope to be able to join in on a trial or two this summer.

Your rig looks familiar.
We may actually have crossed paths about a year ago out on Old Stage or maybe up Rampart Range.
I made a comment as we passed. It wasn't until I looked in the rear view did I realize, "that's not an 80." lol (there were distractions on the run up)

I'm a recent tag along myself. Great club here. Lots of experience, trail knowledge, and helpful advice.
Get comms if you don't already have them.

I too have a PS pump I'd like to rebuild. Not expecting much from the effort, but have the kit and a spare pump. Success rate seems to be less than 1 in 2.
Let us know how it goes and if your main gear removal technique *doesn't* hork the gear. (clacking upon reinstall)

I am Froski, and I have had problems with budgeting time and money for two years now, since I bought my 1991 FJ80.
JK, I have been pretty modest with what I have done, and with what I am planning on.
Final form will be
%10 underdrive hi gears
Low low range gears (just did these)
33” tires
2” OME lift
Bump it off-road front bumper
Factory 80 series winch
That’s about it.
Trying to balance fun with driving the kids around summit county.
It’s been a blast getting greasy, and I really feel like I bond with a machine when I am the one who maintains it.
Plus my boys get to see someone actually working and fixing stuff.
Not much free time to meet up, but always on the lookout for cool places that the machine can take me and the fam.
Anyone else up in the summit area?

Welcome @Froski ! It's a great community. Our family did Saints John yesterday and had a great time. I hear you about the time. I've not been able to attend any local meetups and drives due to responsibilities with family and work. At a minimum this forum is a good place to build online connections.

Did you get past the wild Irishman mine?
I have been in there on skis and it makes for good skiing- usually that means bad driving.
How old are your kids? Yesterday we ended up at Ptarmigan pass above Camp Hale - great time above tree line with grandma and the boys.
PSA - road 747 is closed at the bottom and no longer connects to shrine pass road.

Yes, there was no snow up there. There is a fun water crossing up there but the state or the owner blocked the entrance. Bummer. My son loved it. We took that trail 2 years ago and could tell there some degradation on the steep parts at the top near the trail going to Breck. The switchbacks are in good shape.

Our son is 6 and totally loves being with us off-road. There's no way I'd swap out our comfy 200 series for a Jeep, especially on the trail. When the family is comfy and enjoying the trip then it helps the driver stay focused, right?

I've never been to camp Hale and always wanted to go. Maybe in a week or two. Tks for the 747 update. If we go I'll be mindful of it. We'll probably do Mosquito Pass in the next 1-2 weeks before snow comes in. We were in Leadville last Fri and saw a dusting of snow on some of the peaks.

Hey guys, Trevor here, I have an 82 40 pretty much all stock from when it left the showroom with the usual rust in rear and driver floorboard I'll be fixing/restoring soon. My first cruiser was a red 81 when I was 16 in 1990, paid $3500 for it lol Had 4 since and not letting this 82 go. I'm in Parker, be good to have some cruiser guys to ask questions and ideas with and hopefully do some meetups on the trail or locally.
