Anyone know how to turn off this warning light?

Are you talking about an FJ Cruiser? If so, page 06 08.24 of the owner's manual explains it all.:D

(h) Engine Oil Replacement Reminder
Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)
This light acts as a reminder to replace
the engine oil.
This light will come on when the ignition
key is turned to “ON” and will go off after
about a few seconds.
When you drive for about 7200 km (4500
miles) after the engine oil replacement,
this light illuminates for about 3 seconds
and then flashes for about 12 seconds
with the ignition key turned to the “ON”
position. If you continue driving without
the engine oil replacement, and if the driving
range exceeds 8000 km (5000 miles),
the light will come on after the ignition
key is turned to the “ON” position. The
light will remain on thereafter.
If the light is flashing, we recommend that
you replace the engine oil at an early
opportunity depending on the driving and
road condition. If the light comes on, replace
it as soon as possible.
You need to reset the light after the engine
oil replacement. Reset the light by
following the procedure below:
1. Turn the ignition key to the “ACC” or
“LOCK” position with the odometer
reading shown. (For details, see
“Odometer and two trip meters” on
page 100 in this Section.)
2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position
while holding down the trip meter
reset knob.
Hold down the knob for at least 5 seconds.
The indicator light flashes and the
bars displayed in the odometer disappear
gradually. The odometer indicates “000000”
and the light goes off.
If the system fails to reset, the light will
remain flashing.

sounds correct....believe my "official" method is:

-with the key in the off position, push and hold the odo reset
-turn the key into the run position ( do not start )
-watch the horizontal bars count down...6-5-4-3-2-1 - once they do, yer done
-make mental note to get oil changed, since the flashing reminder isn't there anymore ;)

woody,

I tend to use almost the same method as you do, except I change the oil first - to avoid any issues due to the mental note getting misplaced :)

Wow just did this..... worked the first time... with an oil change ;)

first time I changed the oil myself on the fj. The stealer-ship charges $80. (with a coupon) now

For $80 they better be doing more then just changing the oil. Better be cleaned and vacumed too.

Thanks Spaldam!

I just tried the method here from Woody on my Sienna. Brilliant. Since it's out of warranty I change the oil myself. Now I can get rid of the stupid light. Thanks!

$80. Oil change At the Local Dealership at-least You do get a $ 3. car wash included

Funny thing I just got a call from the dealership asking about service and Interest in buying a New Toyota ?

I told him you get him you got 10 minutes. I totally told him and his dealer ship off !

When 3 years ago I talked to the parts Dept. asking for help on my 66fj40 restoration I was told Toyota did not have parts that old  I spent money with American Toyota Instead.

Sales Dept. was good but .........the Parts department Department that would not look up any Landcruiser parts......unless it was made in the last 10 years They Did not know the FJC has three wiper blades :confused:I now drive 17 miles out of my way to the outher Toyota dealer.

.....The service Department that wants to change all my gear oil @ 15,000 miles and Insist I change my air filter that I just changed 1,000 miles earlier all highway too... and insist that only 4 tire on a stock FJC are rotated in a tire rotation what about the full size spare ?

I politely showed them the owners manual :whoops:

I insisted he talk to his boss and I would like a return call ASAP that was two days ago...makes my want to buy a Jeep.......cannot believe I said that......my cousin is the SW Dealer manager for Chrysler he would be so happy...:bang:

Centennial...
I like the Parts Dept. @ Desert Toyota a Whole lot better......Dusty 66
