Shahram
I ain't got herpes no more.
So, last week I finally had enough of that annoying feeling that I was neglecting my Cruiser. Some maintenance was needed, but what I didn't expect was such an increase in the amount of power and fuel efficiency afterwards.
I am running BFG AT/KO's 285, ARB front, Kaymar Rear Tyre Jockey, stock height. I was lucky to get 11.5-12.0 mpg before (mostly highway), which isn't too bad, but could be better.
Here's what I did:
--Replace drive belts
--Replace EGR vacuum modulator (bye bye CEL/P0401!)
--Tranny Fluid replace
--Diff Oil replace
--Transfer Case Oil replace
--Radiator Flush
--Spark plugs
--Spark plug wires
--Air Filter (Damn, more dust than I thought)
--Power Steering Pump O-Ring replace (No more oil/fluid puddles in driveway, wife pleased)
--Replace cracked/otherwise worn out hoses.
--Replace Air Flow Sensor Boot
--Engine Oil replace
--Oil Filter replace
--Fuel Filter replace
--Wash, vacuum, wax, detail, pimp
Happy to announce that, at last count, I am getting an overall 1.5-2.0 mpg increase, bringing me up to about 13.5-14.0 mpg. Plus, she purrs like a kitten.
I think it might be the wash/wax combo that made the biggest difference. Less drag due to removal of dirt clods, as well as an overall decrease in weight, due to removal of candy wrappers, surf wax, baby vomit, and dust bunnies from carpet area. You'd be surprised what a deep-tissue pimpin' can do for a vehicle. Y'all need to floss yo ride, son!
