This is 'the big house' - built by the huz' great grandfather back in the early 1900s - back when we got married, we roadtripped a bunch of friends up from NC and stayed here..3 floors, 13 bedrooms and a private dock. . it was an amazing trip. Robs uncle still rents the big house in the summer.
You are not exaggerating about closing time - if you havent bought groceries, youre screwed by 7pm in New Harbor!! Shaws in New Harbor (where they filmed the Kevin Costner fight scene in Message in a Bottle) is about all you can get nearby. It was rather nice to have zero cell reception, no fastfood, zero walmarts within a 'quick drive' radius.
I love it, but hate the drive back..then end up relieved once Im in my own bed. We debated Acadia - but I didnt want to go till I could take the 40
We drove around, and I couldnt help but think about how GREAT it would be too putter around in the 40 up there..no AC needed!
