Do you have the rear support brackets for the driver's side bucket seat? They are the short brackets as opposed to the long passenger side brackets.

Toyota added an auxiliary hood latch (drivers side, lever accessed through bezel) starting in November '73, so yours won't have one. Part ID 53550 in the diagram:
