Too bad those springs are unavailable.. Twelve years ago they were Aussie made, a lot better quality

I too have had some horrific experiences with MAF. I don't do business with them any more. OME springs are the best I have ever had on anything, period. Twelve years and 170k miles on the same set. They will handle virtually any load and ride much smoother than stock under any condition. They may not be the highest lift or whatever, but they cannot be beat for quality, ride, load capacity or longevity. I did a SOA conversion a few years back with these same springs. I modified the rear mounts to keep the springs as close to the frame as possible. It worked out very well and the rig has super long legs now, I can drive it like it's my CR500, it just absorbs whatever I throw at it.

over 50%......pretty close... according to their spreadsheet. 8.4% have made just one purchase. No info as to why they don't return. Some I suppose are unhappy, some don't modify their trucks much, and some just no longer own them

MAF blows, period.... I would say well over 50% of people order once and never order again. Hidden fees, piss poor customer service, the wrong part, etc etc etc...

MaF and SOR

Overall I have had good service except for items out of stock they will never give you a definate date. This is true for Maf and Sor in my experience. But they usually do have what I need and do usually get it out in a resonable time frame. But I have also have good service and accurate dates from the others mentioned. So some days good some bad. I still order from all the sources depending on availability and how quickley I need the part. Sometimes that means man it's not free or Sor :beer:

HFS shackles

can you run an OME heavy spring with the HFS 2.5" shackles???? would this resolve any shackle issue or do you still have to relocate the mounting position of the shackles???

I'm thinking of building my own kit based on what i've heard and researched...

ok. i am awaiting the arrival of my new OME heavy kit from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters!!!!! i will also be installing HFS 2.5" shackles. I am having a hard time deciding what tire/wheel combo to go with this settup. i was considering stock wheels with 33x10.50 muds or aftermarket wheels with 33x12.50's. or should i wait and see what she looks like???? does anyone have pics of this settup??? sorry about all the ???

the issue of relocating the shackle hanger revolves around spring length not spring rate. Many buyers of the Dakars are relocating their shackle hangers to achieve a better shackle angle hence a smoother rate of articulation. Be aware the heavy's are HEAVY. Don't be afraid of removing leaves if you don't like the ride. The Dakars are shipped to USA as lights then leaves are added here according to what the customer orders. The larger distributors carry the additional leaves to sell separate

The shackles will give you 1.25" of lift with whatever you get from the springs so 33's will fit fine in either width. I wouldn't go with 12.50 on stock wheels though, a bit too wide IMHO.

Here's my 62, OME heavy/heavy and MAF/4+ long (6.375" IIRC) anti-inversion shackles and 33x12.5x15's on 8" width wheels.

I really like the stance your cruiser has!! that is exactly what i am going for! are your 4+ shackles about the equivalent to a 2.5" over stock shackle?? dont know what (6.375" IIRC) means??

IIRC = If i recall correctly ;)

You get half of the additional shackle length bolt to bolt in lift. Mine are 6.375" bolt to bolt. If the stock are 2.375" bolt to bolt you subtract that from the new shackle length which in this case would be 4" longer giving 2" lift. I don't recall what stock is but you could measure and do the math.

Keep in mind long shackles like mine are known to be rock grabbers.

Here's the MAF page: MAF 4+Plus GSK Super Heavy Duty Greasable Anit-Inversion Shackle

Edit: reading the info on the link seems to indicate 3" lift from these shackles...

Here's a pic:
