Yeah, it’s back on the market and the asking price went up $700. “Based on interest” I hate that crap. I’m out on this one

Begs the question, why did the first buyer back out.

I figured I should chime in since I'm the "lawyer" referenced in the earlier posts (which I found highly entertaining) btw :) ) I sent the deposit because I have unfortunately had more than one experience where I find the truck I want... make an agreement on price... and make arrangements to fly in... only to get a call that the transaction is cancelled (like Dr. Seuss). Nothing could be more frustrating and I suspect we are all competing with flippers who know the end value after a solid cleaning etc and are trying to squeeze a couple thousand dollars out of each flip. To be candid, on that front, I have called on several of the listings here on the forum that were presented as "my wife doesn't want this truck anymore" only to pull a carfax or simply google the vin and learn that the truck was acquired by the seller weeks earlier. Like I said... very frustrating. We all want the same thing evidently, a rust free southern truck with some records. Anyway, as to this truck... to be honest... the seller couldn't be more honest and sincere and trustworthy. I got nothing but great vibes from him and was sad in some ways to walk away. However, this really is "for my wife" and when I looked at it (and I genuinely think he didn't know) I discovered issues with the radio... the sunroof... the aftermarket DVD and a missing key. While I was looking for an unmolested stock southern well maintained truck... those items represented things that were important to her and would cost a few thousand dollars to straighten out. that said, I think the truck was honestly represented. Other than needing a good cleaning it would be perfect for the folks who can work on it themselves... or just don't care about those accoutrements. Not sure if it is still available but it will definitely make someone happy. Anyway... two cents from the lawyer :)

I suspect flippers make up a large part of the market on these trucks. I’ve been offered multiple trucks by forum members in response to a WTB thread here and most of them were flips by either dealers that frequent the forum and bought them from private sellers, or members that purchased them only a few weeks or months prior and are looking for absolute top dollar in a quick scalp transaction.

then there are those who think this is BringATrailer and the two famous recent transactions make the market, therefore all 100 series LCs must now be worth $30K.

Quite a sight to behold. Needless to say, I’ll probably be taking delivery of my incoming ‘21 GX460 in a couple of weeks and calling it good.

@lawrence1 - definitely. I get it but the unfortunate consequence of it is that the market has been artificially inflated... And that is not to say these trucks aren't worth every bit of the money they are starting to command... but the flippers have definitely been controlling the pricing. And as I alluded to in the previous post... it bothers me even more that I am running to it here in the forum. I have called on several listings made by active members who have flat out lied about the history of the truck... even one VERY recent one where several other members commented on the thread indicating that the seller is "to be trusted," artificially bolstering the seller's veracity. Anyway... not angry at the flippers... but frustrated by the misrepresentations being made on some of the listings here. Which frankly is why I felt the need to comment here.... since this particular seller is undoubtedly honest and is not imo misrepresenting the truck.
