Which trailer do you like for off-roading, camping, etc?
I know the 416 was made in US, and 101 is Canadian
What are the differances in these trailers? I am going to look at a 416 this weekend.

Thanks
Steve

Get the Canadiam m101. They one I have was practically new. It still had the little rubber tits sticking off the sides of the tires. And mine came with a tarp all for $375.

Just giving you chit meng... I'd love one of those trailers myself...
it'll have to wait though..

it is probably going to come down to what you will be able to find available, none of the 1/4 ton trailers are very easy to find. I was set to buy a pristine M416 (looked like it had never been used, the floor was perfect) that was a 2 hour drive away and ended up buying a 1946 postwar ll civilian Bantam 1/4 ton trailer that was local and had been in the same family since it was new in 46. the civilian trailer is more practical as it has a tailgate cut in from the factory. the ball type hitch is ok off road but not as good as a lunette and pintle arrangment would be. the M101 CND will probably need a lot less work than a M416.

I think the M101s are a little sturdier, especially the fenders, should hold up better to abuse (not that the M416's haven't). All in all, it should go down to price and overall condition of the units you're considering.

I agree with Henry, I think the 101s are a little better built. They also have some nice tie-downs. Another big plus is if you want to run a different hub (such as for matching wheels to yout tow rig) the hubs are off-the-shelf trailer hubs. The 416 uses a funky spindle design and in order to change hubs, you have to change axles. Of course, by changing axles I also widened mine to track with the 80. Lastly, most any M416 you buy is going to have some sheet metal issues, whereas a new 101 likely will not.

Ditto landcrusher909,
Got My m101 last fall, doing kitchen renos now, saved me from having to buy a truck. Saved purchase price, just not having to insure it.

Alf, Where did you score that from?

Update.

I bought a M101 CDN from Koffer. Great trailer, and she was in excellent condition when I received her. Very clean, very little rust, so SWEET......... Koffer is a stand up guy and if you need a 101 pm or email him. He is a Cruiser head, hell I think he owns 5-6 of them lol.
