Can you give me your opinions on the value of this 416. The paint over the original olive drab is cracking and falling off. There is some rust including a couple of holes in the bed floor. It would definitely need disassembly, blasting, painting and reassembly. It looks fairly straight and complete with the exception of the wiring harness and the drivers side signal. And, there is some damage to the right rear between the handle and data plate. It looks like it would be fairly easy to bump out as is or taken care of when modded for a tailgate.

1/4 ton trailers hold their values pretty well, but that one is going to need some investment soon. But it kind of depends on whether your buying for utility or parts, because it'll be the kind of project where you'll have it in pieces before it gets better.

The biggest strike is the hubs/wheels/tires, because you won't want to risk going to far on that vintage set of skins, even if you're wanting to restore it. New hubs are cheap if that's the route, too.

We paid $700 for a very nice M101 CDN last winter. It needed tires, but was already on Land Cruiser hubs and rims, plus it needed lighting. It was ready to roll, other than that, which the trailer you're looking at clearly isn't for anything other than local runs -- maybe when the sheriff isn't looking

If it was me and there are no surprises like a busted spring, rust visible in the pics is pretty much surface stuff, etc, I'd start at $250-300 and might -- might -- go to $500.

I agree, start at $500, you can always drop the price. I think in it's present condition it's worth between $200-$300.

I'd hold off...that thing needs some serious work.

Take the money snd buy raw materials if you have the time , skills and tools. If not maybe hold out for a GL M101A2 and remove the box.

What's the TV and intended usage? All around or strickly camping build up? $650 sounds like a smoking hot deal, but is it too much for what you need or want?

How much of that will remain in the final build? and how much are those parts worth to you? I see many nice builds and on some I wonder why they even bother starting with a mil. trailer. Like renovating an old house, sometimes it is better and cheaper to start fresh.

I started with an M-100 in slightly worse shape and got it for $100. I won't tell you how much I spent on resurrecting it!

But, the whole idea of resurrecting a 1953 trailer was very, very appealing.

I was considering this M416 to purchase and flip to raise money for my planned 40 tub trailer build similar to Volcanic Icebergs build. The owner overstated the condition of the trailer a great deal. He made it sound like an $800+ trailer with a couple small rust holes in the floor. He is asking $350 which sounds high to me based on the condition and above feedback. It leaves no room to make any $$ on the flip, so I'm out. It is located in Crawford, MS (near Columbus). If anyone wants contact info, send me a PM. He also has the M101-A2s for $650 in Crawford and Hattiesburg, MS.

Here's my two 1/4 ton trailers. The 65 M416 cost $420. The 43 MBT cost $400. Both trailers have surface rust only. These would go for more in the Phoenix area. I ended up traveling a couple of hunderd miles to get each trailer.

M101 A2 is not the same as an M101CDN. $650 is not a remarkable price at all. And it is not a trailer that you want for use behind a Cruiser.

Never said it was. That's why I included "A2", and did not include "CDN" in the designation. Its a 3/4 ton, 1300+ lb trailer.

Never said it was. I have no idea what a brand new M101-A2 is worth. Just mentioned what other trailers he had and at what price. Maybe this was directed at titanpat57's comment RE $650 being a smoking hot deal on an M101-A2?

And it is not a trailer that you want for use behind a Cruiser.Mark...

At 1300+ lbs, I would not pull it behind any Cruiser other than our '08 200, which happily pulls my ~4500 lb FJ40 on a ~1500 lb trailer.

Good call. That trailer is not worth it unless you get it for free. Even then, you will lose money just getting it road worthy.

I looked at lots of these before I settled on my M101 CDN a few years ago.
