I've heard a M151 brake drum will interchange with the M416, but cannot find any literature to support this. I'm in need of a M416 brake drum and cannot seem to find one. Have found a few M151 brake drums.

I did search here and found a thread on cross referencing some parts, but did not see the brake drum.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Same part number as you know from your other thread (Not confirmation but strong evidence.). Just posting here for future searchers. Hope you can confirm and report in both threads.

Well, after pulling the wheel and examining more closely, the M151 brake drum does appear to be slightly different than the M416. The face of the M416 brake drum appears to protrude out slightly as you move towards the center while the M151 is completely flat.

I saw an advertisement for another M151 brake drum that looked identical and it said it would fit the M416. Since I pull this trailer long distances, I decided not to risk it and pulled the axle this evening. Plan to take it and the M151 brake drum to a trailer shop tomorrow and get their opinion. I'll either find out it will work or order a new Dexter axle if not.

Thanks for the info, what length did you go with?

Believe it was 57 inches hub face to hub face. I run 18 inch Tundra steel wheels on the trailer and Dexter does not make a bolt pattern to match. So, I plan to use my adapters from the original axle, which add another 3 inches to the total length of the axle. Pretty much the same set up as the original axle, with e-brakes.
