Which model is it. M101, A1, A2. Value goes up with the newer models. Better axle, landing gear, etc. How about a picture.

500 is alright, if it's already titled, no traveling involved.

If M101 CDN, $500 = Heckuva deal!
If M101 (3/4 ton, US), $500 = Fair price

It is a 3/4 ton so I guess its a us model. Still has 24v lights bit other than that its perfect. I'm thinking I will pick it up

Pictures will come in a few days. I bought it but he is using it this weekend to move firewood

Still has 24 lights on it but came with a set of 12v leds. No title. Can I title it as home built? Also the leds have the military connectors but each pigtail is color coded. Any ideas what colors do what? Cant get pics of the lights to upload for some reason

I had an M116A2 3/4 ton trailer. It was built **** for stout, but boy, was that thing a heavy pig! It was about 5.5'x8', had the pintle hitch with coupler brakes, handbrakes, and front and rear leveling jacks, but everytime I had to move that thing around by hand it was a total pig. And on top of all that it was only rated to carry 2,500 lbs or so--though I'm sure it could carry more.

I wound up buying a 6'x10x3' utility trailer made by a local company. It has a 3,500 lb capacity, and, it is so well balanced that moving it around by hand is a piece of cake. After that experience, I'll think long and hard before buying a military trailer again...

The M116A2 and related trailers are a bit different than the standard cargo trailers. They're built heavily because they're almost always loaded with something heavy. Generators, ground radar sets, and tool carriers are among the uses. More info:

People have done interesting things with them, as they serve as a good base to build on.

They and the standard 3/4 ton trailers are all a bit on the heavy side for many civilian uses. A good 1/4 ton is much better suited for trail use, although if you've got lots to haul, the big ones are handy.

Good score...there should be tons of wiring info on Steel Soldiers ....I'm not sure what the Ohio laws are, but in NY I was able to register it homemade.

Actually if you're looking to match the 80..take it out on the local interstate... get up to 65....and roll it 3 times...

Let the mods begin!!

Don't forget the beautiful primer the po left me with

Yeah, that's a good one. Surge brakes. What kind of landing leg does it have. Crank up or non-cranking.

Just looked at your data plate M101A2. Should be a crank up leg. Alot better!

Here's a a tongue redo on my m116a2, with a drop foot jack...I dropped it down to accommodate the 4runner, but now I'm lifted, so I'll probably have to get a bigger drop receiver.

I used a Bulldog coupler, which has great articulation, and welded a rear bumper on..simple fix. I got rid of the surge and landing leg, and this year the plan is to flip it and chuck a brake axle on with matching wheels.

What's your plan?

My plan as of right now is to use it as a trailer. I have lots of gravel and firewood waiting to be hauled and hopefully by the.end of summer we are moving. After that I would like to build a offroad trailer with a rtt but I trailer to the trails so I don't really need it. I have found that my 80 pulls it fine but stopping is interesting. I have everything to do the brakes but I didn't realize they were that bad. I emailed Grote about the extra less that came with the trailer and they said because of their military contract they can't tell me anything about the lights. The did say just hook 12v to each wire and see what happens

What do you want to know about the lights. Are you going to use the Military lights, which are wired for 24 volt. You can rewire the pigtail for 12 volts. I wired an RV plug on mine, works good.

It has 24v lights right now. He gave me a set of direct replacement Grote leds good for 10-34 volts. On the back is a pigtail of 5 wires each with a different color tag on them. They are white blue red yellow and green. The white is labeled as ground. Nothing else is labeled. The trailer still has the military connector so I was going to wire it with a 4 flat. I want to know which wires do which function. I haven't had time to test them yet.
