My trailer already has been SOA and converted to the Toyota six-lug pattern. Currently it has a set of powder coated 15" FJ40 Steelies, with BFG AT in 33 x 9.5. The height looks about right to me, as the trailer is level with my 80.
I wanted to see if I can get the tires a wee bit further under the fenders, thus I recently picked up a set of FJC 17" x 7.5" with a much larger backspacing. Even with the additional two inches of width, these rims are .25" inwards, which is good.
My question is if I should go with a set of Super Swampers in 17 x 34 x 10.5, or a set of the SXII Super Swampers in 17 x 33 x 9.5. The SXII's are the ones with the heavy-duty sidewall, and actually are only .6" smaller in diameter...plus they are $50 less each. I like the idea of skinny tires, and wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom regarding either tire.
Still need to find a set of Mr. T hub caps which will clear the hubs, as the ones that came with the rims are too shallow.
UPDATE - Out with the old....
In with the new!
Very pleased with the fit and visual, as these look more like the factory rims, though 1" taller, and 1" wider. Still tows great.
