Can anyone verify that the Mobil 1 oil filter for an 80 is M1-301? I was doing the first oil change on my 'new' 97 LX last night, and stupidly forgot to double check that I had a Napa or Toyota filter on hand. The 1334 I had for my wife's CRV looked like it would fit in a pinch, but was much smaller in volume. I had a Mobile 1 m1-301 that I bought for my '96 80 I sold recently, and in my notes the m1-301 has a question mark next to it. It had tons more volume than the filter I pulled off, but the gasket matched up perfectly. The Mobil-One site is useless for looking this stuff up, and I don't see anything when I search. Anyone?? :) Thanks!!

That M1 filter is the eq. of the big filter. This same size is used on many Ford engines. It's the same size as Fram PH8A and Purolator 30001. Here is a cross reference chart:

I usually use a Purolator Pure One PL-30001, which is cross referenced to m1-301. I don't have any start up rattle using this filter with Delvac 1 or Rotella 5w-40. I'm sure the M1 filter will work fine too.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I thought it was ok, but this makes me feel much better. Thanks again!!!

Oops !!!

I just used the M1-102 with M1 0W-40 oil

The same filter I use on my Supra.

Oh well...
