More like welcome back! I put my first 350 in back in 97'. I have been dropping Chevy engines in Toyotas for years. The TBI system is very simple and does not take much to run. I had a TBI 4.3 in my 4Runner for 12 years with no issues. It ran upside down too! I like that it uses off the shelf parts that can be found at most parts stores. The Sniper may be a great system but not one I want in the backwoods area that we travel. Maybe for around town driving where AAA can come get you.
So true.
My neighbor has a 86 1500 farm truck with the 350 TBI. was running rough so they changed the plugs and it got worse. Looked it over and two plug wires were swapped. The original “rough” was caused by the wires to the drivers side injector being burned to a crisp but it still ran. We ran new wires to the injector and it runs like a top.

This is always how I approached it too. I can understand third-party fuel injection on a 2F as a retrofit where it was never really an option, but when you have a viable, mass-produced option like you do on the 350, that's clearly the way to go - especially if your rig spends time off the beaten path. Now i just wish I'd taken my own advice ;). There's probably better parts store availability of TBI parts than there are carburetor parts these days. In fact, I should have just dropped in LS in it from the getgo! I price out all the options, and bought what I could afford at the time...

I hear you on the LS swap. I have a 6.2 in the race car, dropping a 6.0 in the stretched40 project. It is way more money to drop one of those in. I have a nice 5.3 sitting here that I passed on, knowing that this would be a much cheaper swap! I am looking at a set of LS headers that will end up costing about $900 once coated....

Vulnerability? AAA?
I want to make friends with this dude.

Ran into him coming down from Top of the World in April...

Getting a little closer, had time this afternoon to clean the frame up and get the engine and trans hooked up. I need to swap the top shifter plates to the 60 series. Thanks. @65swb45 for the tip years ago.

I also made a cart for the 2F

wild how many swaps back in the day had the shifter bent around the dash and hacked up transmission tunnels

I have the engine mounts tacked in. I need to center t-case still. Front and rear driveshafts will be within 1/2" of each other!

I am bouncing around from my 80, the stretched 40, collecting parts for my 69 K5 Blazer and this! I finally have the engine back in for what I hope is the last time. The rear transfer case mount came up a bit short even though it came from a 40. I stretched it 1 1/4" to make it fit the frame rails. I am letting the paint dry and then I will bolt it all in.

I also got my driveshafts back. .120 DOM. Front is 1/2" longer than rear, and I made a spare rear that will work for both.

That is sweet. This is only possible due to the drivetrain moving forward with the V8 swap, correct?
yes. The rear axle is centered in the wheel well with the Rancho springs, so add about an inch there too. I am happy with the way it worked out.

I re-worked the twin stick shift levers. I will tweak them once they cool and I can test fit them. That is a piece of 3/8. I chucked it up in the vise and I think it is plenty strong. If I bend it, then I am doing something wrong!

After a lot of thought, I decided to stay with an external fuel pump. I am not convinced the internal tank set ups will pull from the factory sump area. I have many friends running these Walboro pumps with success and little noise. With that being said I did buy a complete 2nd set up that will be plug and play. I am using weatherproof connectors in each pump.

Where are you mounting the fuel pump? Seems like the passenger side frame rail was always the place to do it, but on a V8 swap thats either REAL close to the Ram's horn, or in the way of the clutch slave, or the passenger side drop on the T-case. Does it fit between the frame and the body? Back when I got my truck, there was a little transfer pump attached to the rib in the tub under the rear bed to move fuel from the aux tank to the main tank, but that seems like the "long road" from the main tank to the front of the truck...
