Drove the lx470 today to run errands with wife and kids....no problems.

Got home prepped for hunting, loaded the truck and NO go with a cranking attempt. Ignition switch with normal feel....no shaft breakage yet.

Tried to crank it....no turn over. Intermittent working of ACC....(radio, dash lights, antenna, interior) but when trying to start....everything goes black....all electronics die???

All fuses good...no aftermarket accessories. Relays all good in appearance. Removed starter and EFI relays and all appeared normal with and clean connections.

Tried to charge it up...agm energizer battery.....less than two years old. All connections good; no corrosion.

Battery removed and tested at two places. First said needed a charging, second said good to go?

Went home put it back in the truck.....did hear s relay click (unlike before) and she cranked like nothing ever happened???

What was the deal?? Really don't want to be stranded at the deer camp.

Ps: 1998 lx470.....176,000 on the clock...

Thanks,

Todd H

I know you said connections are good, but that sounds like the symptoms of a loose battery connection.

Battery terminals must be clean & greased. If not greased they get a thin film of corrosion, that looks clean and dry, but appears just a little gray. This gray will inhibit the connecting, reducing charging ability. White lithium is recommended but any grease will work in a pinch.

Cranked over and over today after reassembly!!!!!

I'm guessing the terminal connections. Will grease it up this afternoon.

Thanks for all the help....will report back after a week of use!
