I want to buy a 100 series cruiser or a lx470 can someone tell me which one is better/more reliable? I have an 80 series now and will most likely sell that one. I don't go off road too much but want the capability if needed but nothing crazy my 80 is still stock height.

It looks like the lx470 has some ride height adjustiblility and some sort of suspension monitoring system? is this reliable could it be removed and lifted 2" just like any other LC? I'm looking at a 99 LC and a 99 lx470 so I'm trying to figure out advantages/disadvantages. I want reliability the prices are around the same the lx470 is a little nicer color and has more options but is it better overall?

Knowing the service history could help determine a winner. Run the Lexus Vin through a Lexus dealer and check the history. If really well maintained and the AHC suspension still works, I say go with the Lexus. If the LC has a better service history and the rear locker option then go for the LC.

HTH.

the ahc system if that is bad or goes out what is the cost to fix/replace it? is it something that normal shocks or a lift can be put in its place?

I don't have the exact cost but yes it can be replaced with a traditional suspension system. When working AHC is great. Mine works good and I will keep it on until the cost of repair exceeds to cost to replace.

Do a search on this forum by typing in AHC and you will find a lot of info.
Yes, the AHC can be replaced by conventional if you want to.

Usually AHC isn't changed out unless it poops out on you, or if you want to lift with springs, or if you just want rid of the maintenance of AHC.

My Rig has 215k miles (99 model LX) and the AHC system works perfectly. I swap AHC fluid every 2 yrs though just as a precautionary measure and to keep things fresh.

My Bro has a 2000 with 170k miles and his went out on him - or at least it hasn't been as reliable (stuck on low for a while, now it magically seems to work again, lol). I absolutely LOVE AHC and wouldn't want to buy one of these machines without it, but that's me.

I was simply stating reasons for changing it out. If I had AHC I would use it until it failed and then pay to have components swapped to conventional springs because it's generally cheaper that way and I would have no reason for AHC. No grandmas in my truck :flipoff2: I kid I kid, to each his own
