Hi folks,

For the 2005 LX470 that I'm rebuilding, I ordered Mosley Motor's seat leather to replace the old worn out leather on the seats. My LX470 has the LG10 (Gray) interior color code, so I chose the 'Gray' option when I checked out.

I know that color matching exactly is hard - however, this seems drastically off from the factory gray leather. I'm curious if anyone knows if there's more than one gray color code for the interiors? Perhaps some LX470s had darker leather from the factory?

I reached out to Mosley to ask a week ago via email, but no response about any potential different color codes.
Maybe I'm being a little persnickety, but I guess I expected something closer for $1300 based on my (better) experience with much cheaper options in the past. The quality seems great, it's just that the color is super far off IMO. I know a lot of guys have had good luck in the past, so maybe it's just my vehicle that's weird?

Curius what other folks think!

I totally get your frustration, but that looks like it might look better in the darker leather than the original color? I did darker leather replacement on mine (beige interior) and I think it's held up much better than the original!

In this case, it's closer (but still pretty off) to the darker grays already in the interior. So the new leather doesn't match any of the gray inside well - I just feel like it's going to make it all look subpar with now 3 different shades of gray.

I don't have a picture of it next to the door, but you can see from this stock photo that the stock gray leather matches the gray of the plastic on the door and elsewhere, and you've got the darker stock interior gray on the handle/armrest areas of the door. The leather I received doesn't match either of those (it's in between), so now it just going to look like someone did a poor attempt at matching one of the two existing colors, IMO...

I've gotten a sample swatch of the leather colors from Ridies, and found their grey matched my seat grey quite well. In fact, their cognac/orange matched the tan leather in my Miata better than any I've seen so far.

I agree! Their cognac was perfect for my parents 93 Miata... like better than factory (If that’s possible 😂)

I'm curious why your center console lid is a different color than the seats, don't they ship the kit with all of those parts included? Are your seats the "oak" color?

And... A bit off-topic, but what is that arm test added to your passenger window??

The center console is still the original one, I have the leather to replace it in the garage but haven't gotten around to it. And yes, the color is "oak", I've been very happy with the darker color, it's holding up well after 5 years.
The arm rests are One Stone from Australia, I bought the 200-series model (which is only available in black) because they don't have a 100 series model. The fit in GREAT but I tried painting them to match my interior and that did NOT go well, the padding on them is too soft for paint to adhere well. My plan is to take them to a local upholstery shop and have them covered in leather or vinyl to match the door cards. Just one of the 50+ items on the "to do" list! :)
