They have always discounted tundras when times were normal. You can also get a discount on Fords now and I got a small discount on my LX.

You should update and buy one? The issue is fixed.

what issue is fixed?

The engine recall.

Otherwise there isn’t any issues besides the jittery ride in the Fsport which can be fixed.

Hate to also say it but the US market is rather inexpensive compared to the rest of the world. Who knows how long it will stay that way.

I thought the engine recall was for a set range of production dates? Maybe I misunderstood 🤔

Watch that video in the bearing thread.

I cliff noted it but its 30 minutes long. Mentioned is possible bad batch(s), same production processes in US Tundra and Japanese LX600 motor plants, and that the SR/GX550 and LS500 have different motor production processes.

Also changes in part numbers and dates. You should be safe with a new LX. I am comfortable with my 4/24 build date but going to monitor it.

They are literally discounting brand new tundras 10-15k off MSRP trying to move these piles off the lot. So much for what you just said about them holding value.
$10k to $15k off? I’ve seen $4k to $5k discounts on things like SR5’s and Limited’s. Higher trims are still fetching MSRP. (Maybe one could get a small discount on one of those if they bargained hard enough?)

Value (for me anyway) is based on what it’s worth on the used market or residuals if you’re leasing. I’m not sure how these new Tundras in particular are doing but historically many if not all Toyota’s have done very well on the depreciation curve. The Toyota tax is real and is why I would always purchase one new vs used if given the option.

Doesn't the "toyota tax" apply to the new sticker price as well?

No. Any mark up above sticker is nothing more than a dealer trying to increase their profits. You're a fool if you pay it but alas, the overwhelming majority of people out there continue to make poor financial decisions.

The dealer mark ups and/or mandatory installed options you can't opt out of are just icing on the cake.

But often the new sticker price of a Toyota comes at a premium versus a comparative vehicle from another manufacturer.

Lexus dropped the ball BIG TIME on the LX600. It's a damn shame. Look how much marketing they did for the new GX. Do you remember even a single commercial to hype up the 300-series LX? I don't. Literally nobody cares or knows about this car, not to mention the dog sht drivetrain and enormous sticker price. These things were selling for over $200k USED last year at our local dealerships, I saw it with my own two eyes.

I think I maybe saw 5 total LX600s in the last few years. Everybody here is driving Range Rovers and BMW/Audi/Mercedes SUVs.

They ruined the LS, the GS which is now gone for good, and now the LX. So all their flagship models are done for. And I am sure they could care less as their bread and butter has always been the ES,RX, and now the NX.

Interesting. I've had my Green LX 600 for almost a year and I love it. This is a niche vehicle that isn't sold, nor marketed, to the masses. Neither is the big Range Rover. A $100K + vehicle isn't going to be heavily marketed, regardless of the make and model. The fact that there are few around makes it even better - I like having something no one else has. I think that's what Lexus was shooting for with the 600.

The problem is, I love my 600 so much that I completely baby it. Never drive it in inclement weather at all. I've washed it 5 times since November - all of them by hand, just to get dust off. It stays in its own climate controlled garage that I used to keep my Ferrari 360 in. Luckily, I have an Amazon Green 200 that fills in quite nicely in the rain and snow.

Right there with you except I use mine everywhere for everything. Love my Lx, love its exclusivity, love the ride, love the power train. It's not perfect but it is for me. And you apparently :)

You’re definitely a minority and sadly I think the LX days are numbered. Will suffer a similar fate as the RC-F, GS-F, LS, GS, etc. they’re building cars nobody wants to buy at the price they are being offered because of how much better the competition is.

Can you be more transparent and tell me how you really feel?

Lexus USA sold 6,959 LX 600s in 2023. That's the highest number of LXs sold since 2008. It is doing what it is supposed to do, which is be a niche, flagship vehicle.
The GX, considerably less expensive. will sell around 40,000 units per year.

I don’t know. As mentioned you can get a RAV4 or Camery for around $30k and they are pretty well equipped. The Tundra is a little lower priced compared to the competition especially at the entry level.

The build quality on the GX is similar to the Tundra. Cheaper interior tid bits, thinner trim misc.

Nothing against it. Not my thing.

Here I took my LX in for service and I was seeing what this wood grain is about in the GX in the showroom. It was black with a black appearance package. Think the window sticker said $80k.

Jumped in and pushed on this piece real quickly. It’s acceptable but fake wood flexing reminds me of my old Dodge Ram 2500 diesel; decent drivetrain and acceptable build quality.

I am happy to pay the extra $30k for difference in quality, 60hp, sound system, AHC, etc. Little quality tidbits in the LX too numerous to mention.

Nothing wrong with the GX I could see myself considering one for my 30th birthday as a pre pre midlife crisis mobile. Wheels, tires, lift, racks, and bumpers for a road trip to Moab.

My LX has the black wood grain. I'm not a huge fan, but it isn't repulsive. I think mine has some sort of blacked out package - my front grill is black. Maybe that's why the black wood inside?

Thats a GX550.

Its plastic wood grain. It flexes. I am not nitpicking it, just not a fan.

I park my blk/blk Fsport next to my blk/blk carbon fiber package S63 coupe. Great combo. I do think I have some Piano black woodgrain on the door jambs of my fsport but the rest is Engine Turned Aluminum.

Nothing against the wood. Our first choice was a Nori/Palamino Luxury with appearance package but just unobtainium in my region especially without the rear seat entertainment (a big no go). Got this Fsport in the NJ port region 100% the way I would order it. It was 2nd choice as I wanted to set the Nori up for hunting etc. But I am very happy with the Fsport.
