Can you be more transparent and tell me how you really feel?

Lexus USA sold 6,959 LX 600s in 2023. That's the highest number of LXs sold since 2008. It is doing what it is supposed to do, which is be a niche, flagship vehicle.
The GX, considerably less expensive. will sell around 40,000 units per year.
Not an apples to apples comparison when there is not a Toyota equivalent competing for sales.

I thought the engine recall was for a set range of production dates? Maybe I misunderstood 🤔
It is, and also did not include hybrid Tundras. Not sure on LX's, but there have been a decent # of Tundra engine failures built post-recall (late 23s and 24s), although I have only seen 3 documented 24 Tundra failures reported on Tundras.com, a much much smaller # than 22s reported when tehy were close to a year old.

I personally would still wait a while for a few reasons. First, to see if it is really fixed, and 2. To see what the remedy is. To date, failures are repaired w a new short block and reassembled at a Toyota dealer. Seems like a good way to have a poor engine rebuild compared to one made on a factory assembly line.

If they do long blocks it would comfort a lot of owners. I personally own a post-recall Trd Pro Tundra, and it has been a nice truck. Much better than my prior Tundra, a 2013 Rock Warrior. I only have 7k miles, as it is primarily my vehicle to drive to the lakehouse in summer, but so far so good. If I had known about the upcoming engine recall, I likely would have held off from buying as I really did not need another rig. It does keep some miles off my 200 though, which I hope lasts a long, long time.

Enthusiast car forums in a nutshell:

People who don’t own said car trying to convince owners of said car that they are wrong for being happy with their purchase.

Y’all are wild sometimes.

I'd love to see a 600 overtrail, I'd likely get one.

It is unclear as failures are still occuring, but the # of failures appear to have reduced a lot based on reports of failures on forums, at least on the Tundras. I have a 3rd gen Tundra just outside the recall dates, and I like it, but if I were in the market for a truck or SUV, I'd hold off on on getting a V35A TTv6 until it is clear this issue is resolved or if the remedy is a long block. A short block swap by dealer techs is not ideal.

My only ask of the 600 is a long wheelbase edition, with captains chairs in the back seat and an extra 12 inches of leg room

They do have that. Its called the Sequoia. Even consider the crew cab 5.5 bed Tundra, tons of room in the back seat area.

Its a little more “Plastic-ey” but if you need the room its a go to, as you get a decent discount and more room. If you have taller teenage kids or taller adults in the mid row regularly I would probably go with something besides the LX600.

The size on the 600 is great if you are Urban though. Its bigger than my FJ60s, that fit like a glove, but not too big.

Interesting. I've had my Green LX 600 for almost a year and I love it. This is a niche vehicle that isn't sold, nor marketed, to the masses. Neither is the big Range Rover. A $100K + vehicle isn't going to be heavily marketed, regardless of the make and model. The fact that there are few around makes it even better - I like having something no one else has. I think that's what Lexus was shooting for with the 600.

The problem is, I love my 600 so much that I completely baby it. Never drive it in inclement weather at all. I've washed it 5 times since November - all of them by hand, just to get dust off. It stays in its own climate controlled garage that I used to keep my Ferrari 360 in. Luckily, I have an Amazon Green 200 that fills in quite nicely in the rain and snow.
I have green cruisers as well and I hope to get a Nori Fsport soon! The amazon green on the 200 is an amazing color!!

What's interesting is that midway through 2023, the part number for the lower bearings for the crank (#1 and #4 I think) changed. All recalls affected fall under those made before mid '23.

My '24 LX does not fall under the recall (thankfully)

Pretty sure it was the main bearing lower only, and the old part was discontinued as of April 24. Not sure if there is a new p/n yet. Part numbers change all the time for many reasons, so I do not necessarily see this as a smoking gun, but it could be.

They switched all blocks to the same block as the hybrid as well in early 23 iirc.

It does appear failures are tapering down, but there have been a # of failures for builds built in mid 23 and 24.

I wish Toyota redesigns the center console as the two screens setup looks dated from day 1, much like the 2020-2021 QX80 which Infiniti quickly ditched in 2022. I know it's all personal preference, I like the LC300 center console a lot more.

I agree; my wishlist in order of preference:

  1. Overtrail variant that brings additional lockers and ekdss and a revised front fascia.
  2. Interior refresh
    1. Instrument cluster update.
    2. Center console stack update.

That said, I was told the GM of my Lexus dealer that the LXOT is indeed coming.

Give me a revised, toned down grill. It’s the biggest detractor from me ever buying one. Everything else would just be icing on the cake.

Even if they don't revise the Fascia, the moment they bring an LXOT, my GX550 is gone.

I'm in agreement with you guys. Lockers and smaller front bumper. My next would be move 2nd row back for more leg room. The instrument and console don't bother me. Maybe Toyota sense 3.0

No long wheelbase. There are some wish lists above with overtrail, and methinks your patience will be rewarded - although you could be tied to a large battery pack with it.

The sequoia has a longer wheel base. I don’t know about the grill but they should paint match it as an option or something. Here is black for example.

Best way to describe the LX is IYKYK. (If you know, you know) Like LC200 and previous LC's. Those that have them know what they are and what they have. They value what the truck is over the flash and technology that may be in some other manufacturers. It's not there to compete against an Escalade or Navigator. The fit, finish, workmanship is second to none. They are a niche vehicle and not supposed to be a high volume, low resell, fall apart after 5 years commodity. Any Lexus dealer I have gone to are sold out of them. Lexus knows what they are doing and continues to make an amazing quality vehicle.

I agree with everything you said except the flash part. The LX has an element of flash to it, now more than ever with the 300.
