I added paddle shift to my 08 Tundra some years ago, so it should apply to the Land Cruiser...

Yes, that is a Lexus IS steering wheel in my Tundra... much nicer than the stock unit.

Oh, man ... :hhmm:

If you could get this to work, I smell a very expensive mod in my future :bang:

That would be awesome for some Baja-style driving.

Brian, great job as usual.

It works well in all kinds of situations by allowing one to shift gears and to keep both hands on the steering wheel. I realize that sounds kind of obvious, but it's surprisingly useful.

The stock console is retained, the paddle shift is activated when the shift lever is placed in the sport shift mode.

Price?

I'll need to inspect the harness in the Land Cruiser. On the Tundra, and many other Toyota/Lexus vehicles, the clock spring for the controls and airbag is the same. So cost comes down to a couple of wires and your choice of steering wheel.

I have those exact shifters on my wife's Camry and love them. With all that torque steer, it is nice to be able to keep both hands on the wheel and shift.

captain obvious here, but it's a completely diff car. ISF has millisecond shift speeds as it locks the torque converter from 2nd gear up (8 speed). perfectly awesome for the normal commute when put in auto mode. my range rover had auto downshift blip as well, but i was never tempted to use it and even less so on the lc.

how do i know? i used to own this one. great car.

They share more than one might think. The 5.0L 2UR-GSE and 5.7 3UR-FE are of the same engine family... they share many parts and plenty of technology. To get the IS-F engine, Toyota handed a 2UR-FE over to Yamaha and they had their way with it. It would be fairly easy for Toyota employ similar programing, a few transmission tweaks, and have the AB60F 6 speed perform the same functions as the AA80E.

To each their own, I enjoy driving every vehicle to its fullest.

Small four door sedan v full size body on frame SUV. 2 tons v. 3 tons. 8 speed v. 6 speed. 50ms shifts v. pedestrian truck like shifts. Yamaha F1 team v. 1800 of toyota's finest truck engineers.

fairly easy? few tweaks? lol pass some of that good stuff over. got nothing to do with your driving no disrespect.

getting back to my original point that steering wheel looks ridiculously out of place in that american made plasticky bs of an interior tundra. it doesn't even have the latest wheel design.

Sure, program the ecu to lock the torque converter and to bang the solenoids quickly, maybe a few upgraded parts in the trans, maybe not since the AB60 is much stronger than the 8 speed. The AA80E in the LS460 does not shift like the IS-F, it's slow and comfy, yet it was modded to fit the application.

I agree with you on the Tundra dash... it's, well, there, removing the silver helped a lot.... But a good steering wheel and a nice Recaro seat really make driving it a better experience. That steering wheel was installed almost 6 years ago, it was the latest at the time.
