Need a recommendation for brake pads for the wife's 2003 LX 470....I checked with autozone and their premium pads are about 85 bucks for the set front and rear...I think these were ceramics, I generally prefer to go with factory wear items as they tend to give the best longevity....Is there a vendor on here that could get me factory parts at a reasonable price??Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks

Akebono are the OEM manufacturers, I believe those can be bought on rockauto.com for ~$85 front and rear, they are ceramic BTW.

Are they Akebono or Sumitomo? I know older Toyotas I've worked on had the Sumis.

For that price you can get a nice set of Hawk HPS pads. When your cruiser (lexus) stops like a 2000 lb Miata, you can thank me then. Oem pads are great for some people, but I'm not one of those people. I got tired of overheating pads and uneven pad deposits.

Stay away from Autozone / Advance Auto brake pads. I tried that before and they are garbage. With plenty of pad material left (not worn out) one of the pads actually had some metal shavings in it and cut a groove into the rotor. Stick with Toyota / Lexus pads or maybe EBS.
