Just want to share this here. Matt I hope you don't mind. This is burried in Matt's LV build thread and there may be other people that are interested in this.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=473987&postcount=111

Here are the directions and the finished results with a LV body on it. The instructions are very straight forward and simple to execute. The reason I post this is because it has been very helpful with a rotissery I'm building using his Blueprint.

Thanks Matt!

Here is my attempt so far.

Metal = $540 priced
Metal here = Free

I've cut the two ends, verticals and bracing out. The metal is rusty, but nothing sandblasting cant fix. My next door neighbor had it laying around and when shooting the breeze he said take it... score!

I am going to avert slightly from Matt's plan, puting 4 casters on each end and lowering it 3" for more clearance in and out of my garage.

Might go get a bit and some round steel tomorrow.

Finally got around to purchasing the tube for this Rostissery. If you're around seattle, Everettsteel.com is the cheapest. (TIP) if you go in there and dig through their scrap you will save money. The cost for the Tube and body attachment U channel was about $160 at today's price. Cut to size.

Brought it home and dug out the rusted out steel. Took a grinder with 36 grit and shaved off most of the rust. Then I sprayed it with "the must for rust" (can be found at home depot).

John is going to weld it up for me. I just need to cut a few rounds out before Fabrication is done. Here are a few pictures.

Lookin good! Check your clearances, as I built up a similar rotisserie. Unfortunately, I was only 2" away in height, and I can't fully-rotate it. Hits on the side of the body against the connecting rail :)

Still works though :)

Did you build according to the directions above?

please tell me you're gonna beef those up some..........

Watcha talkin about Orange?

Went through 1 2 1/2" drill bit yesterday cutting holes for the 2 1/2" pipe. Purchased another one and hope to get it over to rodneys tonight for welding.

i'm worried that your uprights might not do the job.:frown:

Oh... I believe the uprights are the same size as Matt's. I am beefing up the suports for the uprights though, I went with the same or larger square for bracing.

sounds good then. :)

When Matt put the LV on the trailer while attached to the rotissery.. I was concerned. I guess if it can pass that test... its tried and true. I figure it will work good for a Luau as well this summer.

Orange, good eye. The Steel there is 1.5" by 3.5" so 2x4 ish. Not what the plans called for but still pretty strong. Probably stronger than the welds I put on there.

Went over to Bull's a couple days ago and took some welding lessons. I really didn't know I was going for lessons so I wore shorts and sandals. I trully thought I would drink all of Bull's beer and watch him stick it together. Instead he put me to work. :flipoff2::flipoff2:
About 3 hours later after some chitty chat, cuttin and welding we got it 90% comeplete. Bull should have taken a picture, but I hauled the rotissery back to my place on top of my 1980 Corolla (redneck style).

Bull I owe you some beer.

I had to make it shorter in order to fit it in my garage! I'll post up some pics later tonite. I used smaller tubing for the rotisserie, and it works just great!
