So my wifes Ion got smashed the other day (not totled unfortunately) so they give us a new saturn view as our rental and my wife has been looking at these for a while now. we start admiring all the luxury features and i start thinken i bet theres someone on mud thats tried it or is capable of pulling it off.

so heres the question (not sure if the parts are even purchasable aside from bying a wrecked car) onstar in any aftermarket application (might be nice say you roll off the side of the road they call you instead of u having to call them even with no cell svc.)

cruise control: did some searching on this one and it seems to be a big waste of cash. im wondering if with a 2fe conversion it might be more possible?

Better seats: aside from swaping for better front seats or the improvement of split rear or the likes from SOR i haven't really seen to much done with this. or a 3rd row seat.

any suggestions on any of these would be (in best Borat voice) VERY NICE

I put cruise in mine and I love it. It's a very simple installation.

well if thats not a blatent tease i don't know what it.

what brand? where'd yah get it? whats the parts #? how much was it? how hard/easy of an install?

nice color btw. i would paint mine orange as it's my fav color but, i kinda like the doodoo brown.

Yeah, the brown had to grow on me but I really like it now. Here's the kit I bought:

Amazon.com: Audiovox CCS100 Universal Vacuum Cruise Control: Automotive

If I remember right I connected to power under the dash, connected a wire to the coil, ran a vacuum line to the pump and attached the cable to the throttle. It should have only taken an hour or so but that was before I realized that I didn't have to install the driveline magnets.

did you do a write up and take pics by any chance?

No, I should have, in retrospect. I could snap a pic or two if you're interested.

yeah that would be much appreciated.

i could live with out it under regular circumstances but, my sister in law and her husband will be staying with us for a couple weeks after they get back from cuba via guatamala then were all headed up to see the inlaws in washington (about a 13hr drive in her Ion) so we'll see how long it takes in the cruiser.

how does that unit do on hills will it keep it at the set speed?

Once in a while going up a long hill it will pop out. But that's still better than keeping a foot on the pedal. I drove mine from Las Vegas to Boise and my right leg was in agony at the end of the trip.

I just installed the hand throttle in my 86 fj60- its poor mans cruise control. I havent tried it yet though- prob not to safe.

i was wondering how/if that would work with hand throttle

rayn, think we could get a picture put on of that awesome cruise control you put on, dont mean to hijack, just a quick one to reference off of. thanks

Difficult to maintain freeway speed but the hand throttle in mine (85 FJ-60) with a tired 2F would hold 50 mph with no problem but not like cruise would speed up down hill and drop to 35 ot 40 on incline. Just like throttle lock on a bike. But will allow you to rest a leg on level or down hill sections. I had on in a fresh(read new 85 FJ60 years ago and seem to remember that it too would not hold at 70mph) big suprise seems some of the 60's don't like 70 +

that wouldn't do much here speed limits 70 on I-5 so 80ish

Yeah, the hand throttle works OK. I almost prefer it to some of the wacky cruise controls I've used in rental cars. The stock one (in a CDN HJ) also releases by itself when you put your foot back on the skinny pedal.

Well, I finally snapped some pics of my cruise installation. I forgot to mention that there was one tough task and that was tapping into the brake light wiring. That requires a little contortion.

Here's a pic of the vacuum can:

Here is where I installed the throttle linkage.

Here is a pic of the control in the cab. Obviously this would look better for those of you with grey interior.

factory cruise control

my 83 fj60 has factory cruise control. I've never really used it but thought i'd just let you know that toyota did make it. the controls are on a steering colum lever like the turn signal and wiper control.

jgreen is that factory?
Was not aware toyota did that for u.s. 60's
Got any pics?

THere are multiple threads on seats, including heated ones such as the ones out of a SAAB (I think it was). If you dont' have a Tuffy Console or such, that is instant gratification in regard to comfort upgrade.

heartworm u talken about a consol that doubles as an arm rest or saying there are alot of seat options if i don't have the tuffy?
