I just caught back up on all this. There isn't any updates to report. I had decided to part it out, but after reading my plans I want to start it back up.

I have actually considered chopping the rear bed off at the cab and fabbing some kind of cab. That way I get around the whole fixing the rust and capping the quarters thing.

Hmm, I wonder how much the wife would kill me if I decided to start this thing back up.

And just to clarify. The soda can "cap" was not a cap. Only a mold to build solid fiberglass caps around to keep the caps for both sides, uniform. I do not have aluminum soda cans on the top of the bed rails covered with fiberglass.

I wrapped the soda can mold I built with plastic wrap, wrapped fiberglass sheeting halfway around the cans and let it set. Then I simply removed the formed cap off the cans and made the other side using the same set of cans.

damn u guys get bad rust over there, here in oz its usually the roof thats bad, have u thought about cutting the back half off completley and fitting a flat tray, its good for clearence, they do look tops style sided and bobbed though

It is a perfect candidate for a flatbed! You could put a canvas top over the rear seats and a roll cage and then a short flatbed (double cab style) , or just make it simple and go 2 seater just like the one above.
