I bought an 89 4runner that had some later model Factory alloy rims. Went to take rims off to use on another truck and found wrong lugnuts were used. Does anybody know of a source for the proper ones becides the dealership? Standard shanked lugnuts are to small diameter.

Yeah, I got shanked lugnuts from Napa Auto. They have a great selection. I'm running Taco rims on my FJ40 and needed some.

Same thing happened to my son with his '89 4Runner. It had the SR5 alloys on it when we bought it, but the first time we took a tire off we found all the lugnuts were the cone-seat style that you're only supposed to use on steel wheels.

He eventually found a complete set of 24 on eBay, take-offs from a truck that somebody was parting out.

The factory lugnuts have a nice captured washer seat, keeps the aluminum wheel from galling when you torque them down. Make sure the ones you buy have this too. Also, be careful on the size, all Toyota lugnuts are 21mm, aftermarket ones will often be 19mm. Not a big deal until you get a flat somewhere out in the middle of BFE and you find the lug wrench in the tool bag won't work. That would suck.

Tried local NAPA not much help. I think they have a thing about foriegn vehicles. I will try one near work as the 3 closest to me are all owned by same people. Usually they are good about having Yota parts when none of the other local places do.
