Hi guys
i have engine swap LS2 into BJ74 using marks adapter and H55F trans ,the problem is
the gap between the oil pan and axle almost 1.2''
i tried to move the engine approx 2'' to driver side but i faced another problem power steering stick very close to engine head its 2'' only no enough space to install headers .
My question is?
Possible to lift up the engine and trans approx 2''?
Need your idea please .
Thanks in advance

I would worry more about the oil pan and driveshaft then steering and block. The movement on the block will be minimal and the steering should not be moving at all just turning. Maybe move the engine the other way giving more room on that side. Pull the oil pan and modify it so you have more clearence for travel between pan and driveshaft. If you don't have equipment to modify the pan look at some of the other applications with the LS2 probably have different pan configurations. One that comes to mind is the Caddy CTS with the LS2 in it (I think they used the LS2) it is so tight under the hood they must have used a different oil pan.

Cheers,

Michael

Thank you Michael for your advice
I have tried many oil pan and i found the suitable one is the vortec engine 6.0 liter but still its very close to the driveshaft.
as you said to modify the oil pan its the best idea i'll try that and let see

I don't mean to come across as a diesel/Toyota snob, but... Why would you want to replace a diesel with a chevy motor? Did you blow the 13bt?

Actually i bought it without engine so i decided to go with LS2 for fun :)

I was going to ask the same question as it seems like going backwards to me.

That does sound like a lot of fun. I would love to see that beast in action.

Sounds like it's going to one fast 74.... I've driven heavy suburbans with 6.0's and they get up and rolling very quickly. SO your 74 might need drag bars.

Think of which way the engine is going to rotate when under torque... it might be better to be closer to the LH side. I dunno.

The pan should be able to be welded and sculpted a bit...

That what i'm going to do ,to modify the oil pan and get more room as Michael says

A body lift would also help. You could then raise up the front of the engine.

Yes body lift around 5'' plus engine raise 2'' total 7'' i hope its fine .
modifying the oil pan will be second option
