Lowering the LC 200

My reason for suggesting OP is in the wrong vehicle isn’t because I’m offended over the senseless murder of a Land Cruiser. It’s because it’s just a poor choice of vehicle to modify that way and over-priced for the lack of modern gadgets and comforts if that’s the way it’ll be used - I mean, seriously.

The reason for the high price and lack of the high tech gadgets In the LC wasn’t a design decision or lack of availability. It’s because the LC was specifically engineered to endure certain conditions. If it won’t be used in those conditions then it’s an absolutely horrible value.

A 4-wheel independent suspension vehicle that weighs half of what an LC does, has more modern features, more bling etc is going to handle so much better than the LC will.

I saw an ML AMG the other day that looked like an absolute beast and was absolutely beautiful. Lowered, massive wheels...was just an incredible vehicle.

My guess is that it cost about the same as the LC but seems to be right up OPs alley. Hell I’d drive the s*** out of it if i wasn’t such an outdoor/adventure nut. I’ve had two Mercs and they’re great cars. Never had a single issue with either of them beyond the ridiculous service prices. $80 for wiper blades!? GTFO.

But yeah, it’s your truck. Of course you should do what you want with it.
I fully agree but I’m willing to wager easy <10-20% of the people on here even the ones with modded cruisers do not use them for the intended conditions you mentioned and practically would be much better off with a car based crossover.

When OP posts on an off-roading oriented forum, he's going to get off-roading oriented replies. Nothing wrong or unexpected with that.

Any mechanic's garage can pull those OEM springs out, cut a chunk off, and put them back in. There's your lowered stance, and plenty of people do just that. Far from the best solution, but it's a solution.

But how would he know it was an off-road forum? He just signed up and the name of this place is "IH8MUD". Hes from Singapore. He probably thought it was a forum about lowered Land Cruisers. Ive wondered about the name myself actually. I mean, I love mud.

There was a guy LX_XTREME with a lowered 80. Not my style, but interesting none the less.

LOL I was thinking about this guy too when I saw this thread. His rig was very clean.

I’m really sorry I started this. My “friends don’t let friends lower a land cruiser” comment was a joke and not intended to start a debate about what is right or wrong in vehicle modifications.

Don’t sweat it! This is an enthusiasts board and a lot of us here own or have owned several Land Cruisers and it’s a vehicle that we’re all passionate about. You’re gonna get some strong opinions! But at the end of the day - they’re just opinions and we’ll all do whatever the hell we want with our trucks!

I do take my Land Cruiser off-road. I have scraped the underside of my sliders. I have “customized” my rear bumper cover on a rock coming down from Imogene Pass.

Yes, I do daily drive my 200. If I had room in the driveway for a commuter car, I’d get one and save the LC for when I go off-road. But I don’t have room in the driveway for another vehicle, so I daily the 200.

If I didn’t take my LC to places like Imogene Pass now and then, I might be better served by a Highlander. But I’d rather not try taking a Highlander up to the top of Imogene.

I'd drive the hell out of that Land Cruiser, daily! That thing is awesome.

I think we're being a little harsh here guys. Different strokes for different folks. Even if that means turning our beloved Land Cruiser to suit a different purpose.

There's plenty of tank builds I personally think are rather ridiculous but cool, that really have not as much to do with performing off-road in as much as it is to be a hobby or off-road look. When you consider the OP is actually being honest to himself and tailoring his vehicle for on-road use, where 95% of us really spend our time anyways...

Not my type of build but I can always appreciate a well put together vehicle. This one needs some lowering.

I’m in the same boat. Daily drive and off road my LX and have ripped my rear bumper off off road. I guess We are in the <10-20% crowd.

Guys ,thanks for all the valuable comments and opinions. The LC here in singapore is a costly affair. Costing about 250k sgd. singapore is a small place where we do not have extreme off road designation. It’s all urban here and I love the reliability of Toyota. mall carpark height restriction is a nightmare . Often at 1.8m to 1.9m hence my decision to lower it. I drive up north to Malaysia too with speed up to 200kmh.and I need reliability sturdyness of the LC Too with all that said please enjoy some picture of my Beloved LC

Nice. Like I said, delete the roof rails and there's no need to lower it.

I drove my stock lc up to 190 almost daily. After the lift without uca the caster is off and max I feel safe going is 170, might change after I get UCAs and caster fixed.

haha trust me the LC is that good when handling speed. I am using Eagle F1 AT 285/40/22 with brembo BM8 front and BM4 rear .with 420mm and 380mm rotor respectively
